    Good evening all,

I was driving my truck last weekend and while driving, and at idle, I began to hear a grinding screeching sound from my engine compartment. At no time did I get a CEL nor did my truck overheat.

I opened the hood and I did notice the fan pulley wobbling. Having looked into things, I'm thinking the bracket is going bad but I'm also thinking, and hoping against the water pump being the culprit as well.

The water pump and timing belt was replaced approx 50k miles ago?

Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

It's likely the pulley bracket if you're seeing the fan wobble. You're about the 4th person in the last year that's had the exact same problem. You can also hear that bearing on the bracket eating shit, it sounds dry as hell.

Note it's a PITFA to get the fan off the clutch for some folks (nuts stuck), and some folks change the clutch while in there. I think there's a process for removing the nuts that's easier but not remembering.

Anyway, Aisin brand is the OEM manufacturer of the clutch bracket. Their part number is FBT002 and it's around $110. I don't recommend buying on scAmazon, fleaBay or Walmart, these days you never know if you're getting authentic product. They do ZERO validation of ANY product they get in, and even product shipped from their warehouses lacks any validation.

The water pump is totally isolated from the fan on these trucks. Water pump runs off of the timing belt, whereas the fan runs off of the serpentine belt

I can't imagine somebody replacing the timing belt without replacing the water pump, but who knows. What they were most likely to skip is replacing that fan bracket/pulley
