The only way I could upload the video was to zip it. You will need to download and unzip I guess. I even converted to an MP4, but all are not recognized file format for the board.

I use the free version of On the Way. It does have GPS mapping for your route and guess it tells you if you have weather on the way. Ha,,, it is a still image but it does update every few minutes or so and it does seem accurate.

This isn't correct. I never activated any of the free subscriptions services, and my FOB remote start still works.

Is there any work around to having it stay on when you unlock and open?

I don think so. Toyota claims security issues. When all other manufacturers require the fob to be inside the vehicle and a push start to keep the motor running with a shifter button usage shutting off if not done. Very lame logic IMHO.

I know there is a 3rd party device people plug in to turn off the fake engine noise, lower beep volume for sensors, turn off any beeps for not wearing a seatbelt, etc. I wonder if there is something on the market for this

Nothing that I've seen. I'm sure someone will come up with a hack, eventually, maybe.

What trim level are you? Mine is a Limited, they say SR5 does it. I wonder if Carista may turn on an ability. Anyone used Carista to see this needing to be enabled?

Our 4 '24 SR trucks will do it, so surely SR5 will. I don't remember seeing a setting for remote start in Carista, but doesn't mean it isn't there.
*ETA I did have an issue with it not working, a few months ago, but was due to a low battery. Swapped the fob battery and it works fine, now.

Platinum. I have a Carista but don’t think it’s in there. 3 lock presses and hold 3rd right?

The only place I've seen key fob battery health is in the app (non-subscription part), but if you don't use the app I'm at a loss on where to find it.

Nice post, keep the tips coming.

I tried to remote start my limited and it didn't work. Too bad.

My limited worked first try. Over 1 year of ownership as well so all of my free subscriptions have expired.

It’s very finicky. I’m sure it works. Try it a bunch of times

There has to be more to this. Not in the manual at all and doesn’t work on my basically loaded platinum. One dollar goes to the person who knows!!

Did you watch the video above? Mrlittlejohn does a good job of showing the timing on the button pushes. It took me a few attempts to get the timing right.

If it still doesn't work, change the battery and try again. Or try it with your backup FOB.

I'm 99% positive that remote start with the FOB should work on every Gen 3 trim level, and does not require a subscription of any kind.

On my truck the timing of the pushes is different as well as the pressure required than my wife's 2017 Camry. I actually had to train myself on the timing by watching the lights blink.

It may have to do with the Saddleback cover the key fobs come with on the 1794 Limited Edition.

Yes I did. Tried it 5 different times and mirrored John’s timing. Both fobs. No beuno. Crazy but sounds like I’m not the only one.
I also licked bus windows growing up so there’s that.

You need to have your "Master Data Consent" accepted in order for this to work. Watch this video by Steve Clifford for an excellent overview (and check your settings on the Toyota app):

I never would have figured this out, awesome.

I get satellite view on CarPlay just by selecting that option in google maps on my iPhone, it shows up automatically in CarPlay.
