Long story short, my AlphaRex driver side headlights went out (low beam). Not spending another $1,000+ for lights that should have lasted 7 to 10 years IMO. Frugally speaking, I would rather do halogen headlights housings ($175) and replace the bulbs every few years ($175.) $350 with the ability to replace the bulbs versus replacing the whole housing for the headlights with integrated high and low beams.

I am looking at a modernized aesthetic-looking halogen housing headlights from Amazon for my 2018 SR5 Sport to replace. My plan is to install it and replace the headlight low beam and high beam bulbs with LED bulbs into a Halogen housing to retrofit it.

Now, my questions are will I need a adapter switching to "halogen"? Also If you guys have any recommendations for LED bulbs that is a retrofitted for halogens, let me know. any info would be appreciated! Just trying to prioritize keeping the price minimal.

Depends. Look at the factory headlights harness that is currently plugged into the Alpharex, what dies that look like? Does it have the 3 slot plug for the H4/9003 bulb?
If yes, then no adapter needed. The H4/9003 bulbs are high/low in 1 bulb. You can get Diode dynamics or Morimoto led bulbs. They can be pricey but they are build with quality.
Did your truck not come with factory led headlights? Or did you purchase the truck with the alpharex on it already?

The Alpharex wiring I'll have to take a look. My Tundra came with OEM LED Headlights originally and then I swapped to Alpharex thinking they were going to outperform OEM longevity.

So why not put the oem led back in?
In my opinion, going to halogen is a step back in term of “modernizing”.
Since your factory wiring was built for the oem led headlights. You WILL need some kind of adapter. Who makes them? No clue..

I agree with @BrandonL812 that going to halogens will be a HUGE disappointment.
If it is really what you want to do and you need a harness, contact @iHacker and he may be able to help you.
He makes harnesses for the upgrade to 2018+ OEM LED from halogen headlights.

Also, the halogen headlights, depending on what year they are, either have a white LED strip on the bottom for DRL or they use the amber turn signal/parking light for the DRL.

You can find wiring diagrams here that may help you with this transition..

Problem is with that is that I would go back to OEM if I had them in hand. I was offered pre-owned OEM LED headlights for $350 plus shipping($100) but I might as well not go through the headache of having to do the headlight pitch and throw scenario again like the Alpharex.

I bought Alpharex Novas and sold my OEM LEDs at the time. In retrospect if I had known the aftermarket LED options are trash I would've kept my OEM Headlights. Hence why I'm going into a Aftermarket Halogen housing with Low/High Beam LED Bulbs so they are replaceable.

I agree that the Halogen bulbs are terrible. I'm talking about replaceable LED bulbs (low/high beam) in a Halogen housing. Not sure if you both read the detail in my post. But that would be my option as I stated to @BrandonL812 as well.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Check out Auxito brand - I have used on several vehicles - they have gotten better and better over the years.
    .
No blinding - sharp upper cutoff side to side. Light delivery is same because they use OEM reflectors.
No dark spots side to side.
Long deliver - further down the road than OEM.
    Fanless - no sounds.
Long life - rarely have one fail in less than 4-5 yrs - even then cost is reasonable for the life they give.
Physically the same size as OEM so all fits as it should.
They make kits with all 4 bulbs - just make sure to get the correct one.

Im not quite certain you read what i posted in number #2 either. Yes, we did read your post and we provided our opinions on the matter. Even aftermarket led bulbs, imo, is nowhere near as good as oem led. But again, my opinion, other mays disagree.
Again, with the halogen, it will accept the H4/9003 bulb type. You will need some sort of adapter to go from @iHacker if he can make you one. I also posted you can try either diode dynamics or morimoto led headlights bulb as replacement. Quality part quality name. Or try a plethora of Amazon brand bulb that will be lesser quality.
The oem or oem type halogen headlight makes the truck look dated. Main reason why everyone went from halogen headlight to 18+ OEM Led headlight. This not only updated the function but also aesthetically improved the front end. But, my opinion.
You may prefer the look of halogen with aftermarket led bulb.
End of the day, your truck, your money, your taste.
    To sum it up.
You need an adapter for certain
You will need type H4/9003 bulb led of your choice.

then it will be just plug n play.

Gotcha, I understand what you're saying now. Thanks for clarification. I do admit the current OEM Halogen is not tastefully good looking. I am more so opting towards the the Halogen Housing still just cause I rather not have to replace the whole headlight when I am prompted too. Below are my two options unless I change my mind for LED with integrated LED BulbsScreenshot_20250227-063927.png Screenshot_20250227-063934.png

They look good and high end! I know Morimoto is a recognized brand. I hope the Bulbs lasts a long while. I'm planning not changing headlights or bulbs for 5-10 years. Just saying cause I was burnt out from Alpharex and I know some people were burnt out as well from Morimoto headlights. Did you get the H4 bulbs yourself? Just curious cause I was also looking at LASFIT lighting as well.

I have my halogen lights if you want them. Passenger one needs a new bulb. I would wait for a holiday sale to purchase the OEM LED ones and ihacker harness. They have worked perfect for last 2 years.

I gotcha. Spending that much and didn’t last as long as you’d like really sucks for sure.
I dont have the morimoto bulb but their site stated Limited Lifetime Warranty, so that gotta be something to consider.
my 21 got oem led headlights and i am perfectly happy with them. I see no future issue with them for a long time.

he doesn’t need the harness if he get the factory led set again. His truck was equipped with led headlights but sold it and gotten the alpharex ones. He needs the harness now because he’s going from factory led to factory halogen. Not the other way around.

No, I read your entire post.
From reading about LED bulbs in halogen houseings my opinion still stands.
The pattern and light scatter are terrible, plus oncoming drivers will hate you.
But the biggest issue will be your disappointment of the halogen housings, they are ugly.

I can't tell if your truck is silver or MGM.
Perhaps you can find some TRD Pro halogen headlights.
    Good luck..
