Don't know if you guys have seen the latest thread on FRAC info: @brianNC44 over at AutoHarnessHouse has taken over FRAC production. If someone comes up with a prototype connector, I'm sure we'd both be interested in checking it out.

Does anyone on here have a picture identifying the correct connector for the video feed on our head units? If I can be led in the right direction without doing trial and error with a multimeter then I could take mine apart to view the connector and get measurements off it.

So when we’re in 4WD the 360 panorama cams are on full time. Must be a way to fool them into thinking the truck is in 4WD and keep them running.

Okay community, I want to revive this thread. I’ve been monkey around with trying to create my own anytime backup switch.

I got a small male to female connector for one plug on the back of the head unit (I17) that has all the locations of the reverse signal and camera signal into the head unit. This harness is readily available unlike the new camera harness. From what I’m reading, the switching on the display happens when 12V gets sent to 2 wire locations when in reverse which can be done with the I17 connector harness.

Luckily I had saved a radio and display terminals of ecu page when I had TIS and this is how I’ve discovered this. I have identified the wires that feed for reverse signal and camera feed when the truck is in reverse.

So with this I made a quick splice into those wires on the harness I bought (not truck harness) and then got a switch on there to supply constant 12V to those wires when I pressed the switch.

Good news is it worked and I was still in park and could see the backup camera when I pressed the button! Bad news is the shift selector was lighting up R for reverse and was physically still in park. I got an error code for selector malfunction. I deselected the switch making it normal mode again and turned the truck off. I was able to clear the error code with an OBD scanner and ride around a while afterwards and everything seemed fine.

Anybody have any ideas on what I could try next? I’m thinking that I’d need a diode inline for both those wires to not feed anything back to the truck when I send 12V to those wires when it’s not in reverse? It feels like I’m close but just want to tread lightly with all the electronics our trucks are made up of these days.

    Diodes should solve your problem

Hey guys, ABC (AnytimeBackupCamera) guys have a solution for us now. I just noticed this the other day when looking around. I just installed it and it's great. Exactly the mod I was looking for and will probably be the simplest and most useful mod I probably do to this Tundra. I love it!

    Here's my write up.

I’m not really understanding why this is necessary. On mine I can hit the camera button and see the top of the bed and there is a button that lets me see the hitch, it works while driving forward.

Just us that only have the reverse camera as an option. No button or anything that we can activate it while in motion without this mod.

It should be said that the ABC cable doesn't work for those that have the panoramic cameras (according to their site).

Thanks for clarifying. It’s useful only for those that have the reverse camera.
