Am I insane, or does the hardware seem to hang lower than other examples you’ve seen? Or is my truck too low and once it’s leveled/lifted I’ll like them better? lol. Hard to believe it bothers me so much, but it does, enough to send them back maybe.

Only other ones I really like is the cast aluminum TRD ones so far, but not sure they stick out enough to protect from door dings like these do?

Looks about the same as any truck with side steps/bars. It may be more noticeable on the RBs since they are flat and thin.

The oval bar design side steps still have about the same hang where they mount on the bars....just the bars hide the mounts better.

Here are mine for reference. Looks normal to me. I’ve gotten used to the mounting hardware, but the first mount does catch a ton of snow.

I’ve got the slims on and agree that they do sit lower than they should be. I think once you get a lift, it won’t look as low.

I have the slims. And yes, the brackets bug me too. Sometimes the way it sits, it’s not a noticeable. I’m slowly getting used to it. I think they could’ve made them a thicker gauge material and slimmer if that makes any sense, so the brackets don’t hang down so far. IMG_6677.jpg

I tried a set of these when I first got my Tundra but sent them back the next day. They mounted easily and looked good but they are so high they put your ass up at roof level so it is almost impossible to get in.

Yes the brackets hang very low. I looked at these too but you are not wrong they are low, it’s why I bought a step with different mounting.

Anyone go from the RB20s to the cast aluminum? Real truck has graciously offered to return them. Just gotta get a ton of bubble wrap and get them going I guess. Was hoping the hardware didn’t hang as low as it looked in photos but it doesn’t seem to be growing on me, lol.

Ever a worry you're going to get caught up on something because of how they hang? Guess that's truly my concern. If I'm driving over something in a field, or on a trail, are these, due to the hardware, any more likey to get you caught on something vs the TRD ones that are flat across the bottom? Maybe I'm just beyond overthinking it.

For my use case it’s not a concern and I’ve never given it a second thought. If you want something that tucks up tight and has a low profile mount, I’d recommend sliders.

RB20's hang low like many other models. The Go Rhino Dominator D6 are tucked up underneath and much more hidden.
