I test drove a power wagon when I was shopping. Drove it all of about 3 miles from the dealership before I turned around and gave it back. That thing rode like absolute dogshit. Beat my kidneys to death on a paved road that was rough for sure, but not pot holed or broken. It was downright garbage. Given that the road I live on is worse than that, I had no problem rejecting it. Sucks because it looks good and sounds great.

I went with the V8 because my dick is small, but I hear mostly good things about the 2.7 so long as you don't tow and it's not in the Bronco.

I hate the folding shifter though. It's such a gimmick.

    That was my thinking.

However, the look on my wife's face when I said, "Dear, now I have the warranty, I am going to drive this thing hard and put it away wet."

After waking up from the hit on the head, I figured two things:

    1. Don't say goofy stuff like that when she is carrying something heavy

    and

    2. Better just take care of it and let it run its course! LOL!

I'll take care of it, but I'm sure as hell not going to baby it.

I thought the same thing until he folded the Center arm rest flat and had a table for his laptop or whatever he needs a table for while he’s in the truck .

Yeah, the PW payload isn't a lot, but that's the price for soft suspension. That one had an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed, Decked drawers, and bed rack, so it was already loaded down pretty good, too.
The one thing about having all that stuff from the factory is if it gets totaled in a wreck, you're not out all the money on aftermarket parts and labor. Ask me how I know, haha. Gears and lockers are like $6-7k installed. I was recently quoted $3.5k without lockers. So add in another $3k or so for the lockers.

I do have 36's already. They do look tiny compared to 38's, that's for sure, haha.

But, yeah, I don't see me buying another truck anytime soon.

You should post that over in this thread, along with any mods or accessories you get for the truck over the years. https://www.tundras.com/threads/what-have-you-done-to-your-not-3rd-gen-tundra-today.153146/

The only thing I can remember you posting about was your completely rotted exhaust and muffler, which was crazy to see...what else did you have to fix on your 2010 Tundra?

My console doesn't flip over, but even if it did I don't think that's a good feature for the driver. Perhaps from the passenger side without the wheel in the way, but I tried putting my hands over like I would be working on a laptop there and it's just not comfortable at all. I would rather slide my seat back and just have it in my lap I think.

The wife would look great in her new truck. She might even let you drive it now and again....most likely to refuel it.

I had a couple guys at work that have 6.4L Rams. No problems to report. They towed quite a bit too. All of them were under 120k miles.

I am on the edge of needing an HD. But as it is, driving a late 2nd gen Tundra is like having an immunity against all the insanity in the market right now.

Unless you have a wife pushing you to get a camper that is too much for it, I'd downsize whatever has you on the edge of needing a bigger truck. Even with a wife pushing for a house to haul behind it I think I'd refuse. Getting rid of the Tundra and my WRX are the only vehicle regrets I have.

We’re backpackers, but I love the idea of dragging more of a base camp out to CO/WY/wherever I draw for elk hunts. Small trailer with an e-bike. Then hunt out of my pack from there.

You're Tundra should easily be able to do that.

Agree. But I am also very hard on my stuff.

A friend of mine once said I am the only one he knows that can destroy a CAT with a rubber mallet!

But I am being a little sarcastic about my wife.

Those are pretty awesome upgrades! I've never put bigger tires or wheels on my trucks, but only changed the rims out. Looking for new rims for my truck now. But that will come later.

I had a transmission cylanoid blow out and put me in limp mode. A radiator break. Timing belt pulley, Brake lines, CV Joints, U Joints, exhaust (which you mentioned), Heater/AC Actuator, and I think there was a couple other things that I am not remembering. I know there were a few small things as well such as door handles and tail gate handles breaking, etc. These were the biggest things besides the wear parts such as rotors, brakes, etc.

I know there was some more. I just can't remember everything. All totaled, I spent around $10k on a truck I paid $18K for.

I am still trying to talk my wife into getting up the courage to drive mine. She sat in the drivers seat and it almost ate her! LOL!

That is good to hear. Mine has 87 and some odd on the clock. It does have a little higher idle hours because of what it did in the previous existence. Now that I have it, the most it idles is at traffic lights or warming up before taking off when it is cold. So that number should start to come down as I am using it.

Surprise her. Don't let her know you are trading in her Jeep for it. Just let her come back and find it in the driveway :santa2:. Late Christmas present? Early?

I'm not speaking from experience, because my wife loves her car. I would be in trouble.

I have a Rhino liner on mine and I am liking it so far. Yesterday I carried almost 1k lbs of food in various containers. The 8' bed came in handy!
