Old trusty saved its younger bigger brother tonight. I haven’t driven my Tundra in a little over a week, The battery is old, and this sub teen temperature swing likely did it in. I tried to start the Tundra Sunday night but even the dome lights said f*** off. So, my little old blue truck had the honors of providing a jump. Funny note, the ‘94 has 219k on it, while my ‘15 has 221k.

And while letting the Tundra idle and charge/warm up, I took a piece I’ve seen somewhere on here and used a small mechanics pick and poked a hole in this portion of the washer fluid reservoir. I was able to get an almost another 1/4 gallon of washer fluid into the reservoir with that little hole bleeding the air out of that trapped corner. Thanks to whoever posted that hilarious little tidbit.

I wish I had more backstory. I bought the truck private party knowing 4 hi was quite crunchy. It was also tell-tale that my front driveshaft wouldn't spin freely.

Luckily, there are plenty of low mileage front diff carriers around from sequoias and Tundras! Swapped the whole thing out last night.

Good lord. The previous owner definitely got their money’s worth out of that gear set…

I was today years old when I found out my '21 Limited Nightshade Crewmax has factory remote start.:anonymous:

I've been hitting the unlock button 3 times since I got it. Only today did I try it with the lock button. Actually scared the shit out of me, I just figured my Toyota Connect was expired and the remote start option went with it.

    The sad part...

I got a brand new 12 volt solution remote sitting in the console waiting to be installed.

Well with the 12volt the engine won't turn off when you open the door unlike the OEM remote start. I love my 12volt remote start and app

That was the selling point for me as well. In addition, factory remote start distance is horrible.

Which app? Toyota Connect or the 12 Volt solutions app?

I've checked them both out. TC is pretty useless for someone like me. I'm not liking all the info that my truck is sending back to the mothership. That module is going to be dumbed down soon.

The 12 Volt Solutions app is nice, but I don't want the app to start the truck. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the the fob version.

I was aware. The fob version should work fine. Been using fob versions to start my vehicles for 25 years, don't see a reason to change.

Classed up the front end with a new synthetic winch rope, fairlead and light bar. Got rid of the old blue fairlead and hook as I’m going for more of a cleaner look.
Then took the pup, Zach out to Mojave Rd for a run with about 12 other Yotas.

The app does so much more than just start your vehicle. When I installed the 12volt remote start I just had the fob version but was having issues with it working in certain parts of my house and so I ordered the app module for the win.:benchpress:

Spent some time around Moab. Doing a little bit of prerunning to find routes and campsites for some family camping. Now that I have a camper to drag around I have to change up how I find campsites. I'm used to bombing down whatever trail I see and camping at the end if I like it. Can't do that with a trailer

Only hit a side step on a rock ledge once. I figure once they're actually bent I'll replace them with sliders

Great time to be out there. 45 and sunny, no tourists.

@ikarus what kind of rig do you tow for camping? Sometimes I'm a bit jealous of those out west with BLM land and wide open spaces for camping. Over here, we have FSR's that I do try to explore but many are tight and better for jeeps, taco's and 4R's.

I have an MDC XT16. It's an Australian brand with independent suspension and all metal/composite construction.

We do have some great wide open spaces out here but yeah I feel you, the Tundra is a big truck. I got on a trail yesterday that I had to back out of cause it was just a little too small. Would have been fine in my 80.
