10-15 deg all weekend (truck sits outside), 3deg this morning, and besides the slightly slower crank she fired right up like the champ she is. Going to pretend what I did fixed it... until it didn't.

That's exactly when they will be fake. Amazon receives product from multiple vendors and puts them in one big box, some vendors have real product and some have fake, they're all in the same box to be grabbed from. That's what I've always heard anyway.

I've personally seen a case of a counterfeit hood on a Camry that a customer had replaced at another body shop.

It was....strange. The hood structural support foam was missing under the insulation panel, the underside stamped design was slightly off and the "Toyota" logo stamp was not in the right location or orientation.

We had a training video on this issue not too long ago. OEM parts sold from anything other than an authorized dealer are to be scrutinized. "OPT-OEM" are supposed to be discounted "OEM" parts, BUT they can be counterfeit, stolen or any other scandalous term.

    What he said. But …

@MooreKen when was the last time you saw someone try to sue scAmazon over fakes? There is literally no reason for them to bother with validating their inventory, it’s not good for business and there’s no repercussion for failure to do so. And we have had some consumer protection legislation put in place very recently, but that’s likely to get repealed/killed/nerfed in the next year or two, because consumer protections are bad for business.

But yes. Any time you buy from scAmazon or fleaBay, you are at risk. May as well be Alibaba or Temu. I wrote a long reply on why this is. If you search for “fulfilled by” against my name here, you’ll find it. It explains in greater detail why it is. Short story is, “shared inventory bins at warehouses” and “no attempt to validate authenticity on arrival of inventory shipments”. They make vendors pay extra to keep their merch separate. That and wrong stuff can get returned to wrong bin.

Probably a customer bought genuine ones, then returned cheap fake ones in the packaging, employees didn't notice and just put them back up for sale. Or an employee did it themselves.

This is a pretty common thing people do. My brother at a sporting goods/gun store recently had somebody order a $600 range finder online, then return a $60 one in the box. The employee receiving the return (usually young college students) failed to verify it was actually the right range finder in the box, and the dude got refunded and got away with it. And now I have it :) Happens a lot with optics. Cheap Chinese airsoft clones of acogs and eotechs etc.

The Master Tailgaters handle is installed. Clips have been upgraded and the moving parts have been lubricated.

I did run into a small problem where the new lock cylinder u-clamp was too big and caused my lock cylinder to pop out each time I put my key in to test it. I swapped it out for the existing one and all is good in the Kingdom again. Praise be.

Mounted a Shovel to my bed. Before everyone goes overland nuts lol, it’s for work, if I go into a fire zone I have to have a shovel and a 10lb fire extinguisher.

I ordered a Power Tank fire extinguisher mount but it hasn’t arrived yet. The fire extinguisher will be mounted under the tail of the shovel. Both will hardly protrude into the bed.

Lined up the brackets and used 1/4-20 RivNuts. So if I want to remove this it won’t even be noticeable.
    IMG_6727.jpg

Brackets are from Builtright Industries. Insanely high quality SS with all hardware include as well as the Quick Fists. Like $39 for everything.
    IMG_6728.jpg

On the rear mount I drilled a 1/4” hole in the shovel and used a 1/4-20 x 2 1/2 bolt in the mount to keep the shovel from spinning. This should prevent the head from rubbing the bed of the truck over time.
    IMG_6729.jpg

Came out pretty clean and doesn’t impact any bed space. I might add an Axe or a McCloud below the shovel.

It says it’s for a V8 and I don’t recall seeing the option for a 6 cylinder. I’m guessing they’re not compatible? Could call and ask or someone on here will certainly know. I have no idea.

Perspective. Out here, how enjoyable the summer is can be very dependent on how good the winter was. Not enough snow and warms temps over the winter means summer fires, smoke, forest closures (or at least bans on campfires), low streamflow which = not good floating, bad for fish, people fighting over water. Between that and the fact that I enjoy getting out in the snow, I try really hard not to complain about snowy, cold winters.

Sometimes I have to catch myself, though...

I’ll let it circulate for a week before I tackle the timing belt job and put new fluid in.
