So I cut that green and orange wire. It was pretty easy to find:
    IMG_1600.jpg

It extends upwards with the direction of the arrow for 3-4 inches before getting taped into a loom. I cut it with ample space for reattachment.

However, the cargo lamp still turns off at 5mph!! I can’t figure out how it’s still getting a speedometer signal. I can’t find another speed sensor wire that goes into the integration relay. Everything else including the speedometer still seems to function fine, so I’m not sure. I’ll splice that wire back together once it’s warmer outside. I definitely didn’t cut the wrong wire.

At least I was able to figure out why I wasn’t getting any air out of the left vent, so it wasn’t a total fail:

This thing is unstoppable in the snow. Fixing the 4WD should’ve been the first thing I fixed when I got the truck nearly 4 years ago.

I had zero issue driving down roads with 6”+ of snow on them. Never experienced this much grip in the snow before, in any vehicle.

I'll get to use the 4X4 tomorrow :bananadance: as that front rolls across the big pond over to us. only about 2in on the ground so far...
Nice pics. I love how quiet it gets after a big snow event.

Heck yeah! I get so excited for snow. We’ve gotten about 6” so far, and it’s gonna keep snowing for a few more hours.

I also love how quiet it gets. Also how bright it gets outside too.

I def noticed how FGTundras got tuns of traction! I grew up driving a SB 1995 ranger it had horrible traction!!! I don't know what Toyota did different but it sure is nice to be able to take off from a light in the rain without spinning into 3rd gear

Did yet another 900 mile roadtrip to visit my girlfriend. Tundra did flawlessly.

Hit 220k. 30k miles of ownership- it hit 190k the day I got it.
    IMG_1726.jpg

I battled some pretty strong headwinds and steep hills on the way there. Still got 15.4mpg, which I think is pretty good all things considered. It was like 13° outside too.

I also spent close to an hour in 4WD. The roads started getting pretty slushy, so I cruised in 4HI at 60. I was a bit nervous at first, but that’s what the sticker on the visor says you can do. Toyota wouldn’t rate it for that speed if it couldn’t do it, right? It felt super smooth. Probably only got 0.5mpg less while using 4WD too.

Took a quick video of all the snow getting caught by the wind and blowing over the road. Hadn’t seen something like it before.
    https://youtu.be/fktg-_Wpy3s?si=gxGZaMrb4tm7EDK0

On the way back I got a whole MPG better, 16.4. Ended up using just over two tanks of gas, which is pretty good considering the 900 (actually 887) mile distance

I also noticed that the glass on my passenger side mirror was a bit wobbly- anyone experienced this? I hadn’t noticed it before. Power adjustment still works great.

Love this old truck. I really couldn’t be happier with it.

You can drive faster than 60mph in 4wd. You can’t engage or disengage at speeds above that though.

That snow blowing over the road like that can be hypnotizing at night. Pretty gusty over on this side of the lake today too.
I replaced the glass on one of my mirrors that was split down the middle, they are pretty simple. Do you think its the glass that's loose or part of the mechanism getting sloppy?
    Nice gas mileage btw.... jellyo_O

I'm not sure about it being the glass or the mechanism. I've removed the glass on both mirrors a couple times to remove the painted (or chrome) caps on the mirror housings, but isn't the glass kinda clipped into the power adjusters, which are just screws? I feel like in order for there to be play in the glass, something in the mechanism must be loose. I'll gave to pull the glass once it's warmer outside.

And trust me, that mileage is only because I really keep my foot out of it. Cruise gets set at 70 and I don't touch it unless I have to brake. I also sometimes turn OD off on really steep hills. Around town I'm still getting 12 at the very most.

I swear there's some screws in the bottom of the mirror housing that can be tightened to get the mirror to tighten up and not move around.

Have to do some searching on here. It's a documented issue.

I think I know what you’re talking about.

I think you can tighten up a couple screws on the bottom to get the whole assembly to stop rattling- but it’s the glass itself that’s moving around. I’ll see if I can get a video today.

I feel like I remember disengaging at higher speeds, you just can't engage above like ~40ish.

Maybe the glue that is on the mirror to the carriage is gone? Some times those plastics on the carriage will break and causes a rattle in the glass. Depends on how it's shaking.

You can (and I have) engage 4wd up to 52-55mph I believe. I’ll have to check the card in my visor

Dunno, I'm 100% positive I've attempt to engage 4HI on the interstate passing thru the city and failed (flashing). And traffic thru Atlanta downtown on 75/85 never goes faster than 55.

That makes me feel better haha, the highest I've seen on mine was about 16.5 mpg.

I also saw a post regarding screws on the bottom. I went to tighten mine up and there is three on the bottom but only one that I could access with a bit due to the other two being too close to the door.

I'm guessing a tab broke at some point and you'll need the carriage, if not the carriage and glass.

That’s kinda what I’m thinking. I’ll have to pull off the glass at some point. Way too cold outside to be dealing with plastic clips right now though.

I’ve posted pics of what’s under there and Toyotas install instructions in the past. I think in the “what’d you do today” thread. Spotty data where I am right now so can’t find it.

Hey, I finally remembered it was you who asked about my OEM front coils. Sometime in the next couple months I'll be replacing them with OMEs. When I do I'll reach out and send you photos. No obligation, but if you still want them and we can agree on a fair price, you've got first right of refusal.

They've got somewhere just less than 10,000 miles on them.

    Awesome. Definitely let me know.

I’m getting Bilstein 6112s at some point, but that could be anytime between April and July, so I might still be interested, even as a backup plan if I don’t like the 6112s.

Has anyone put heated mirrors from a later truck onto one that doesn’t have them? Missing my Lexus. The heated mirrors on that thing will fry an egg.

Having more solenoid-related transmission issues. This is the third or 4th time I’ve dealt with this.

It’s throwing a P0773 “solenoid E electrical malfunction” on every 3rd-overdrive shift. Not on any other shifts, just the 3-4. The really weird part is that it drives totally normally. Solenoid E’s job is to regulate line pressure when shifting, to allow for a smooth shift. When it’s not working, the trans slams into the next gear.

I also don’t think the torque converter is locking up completely. It gets close to locked up, but the transmission temp on the highway is 20-30° higher than normal. Normally it cools down to 110-120° when driving on the highway with the converter locked for a while. Don’t these RPMs seem slightly high?

I’ve gotten solenoid E replaced twice, and the wiring harness going to it repaired as well. My spring break is in a week so I’ll take it to the shop then, but I’m getting sick of having these stupid issues.
