Can anyone name these coolant hoses? I have the TB off and they are kinda hard and brittle and thought I would replace them. I drove myself dizzy trying to find them in the FSM.

    THANKS

Or just go to a LAPS and find some transmission hose. It should do the job fine.

Live in Texas? I would just bypass like is said above, it’s meant to heat the throttle body in sub freezing temperatures. Mine has been bypassed for years.

I wish the videos did a better job of showing what to do. I can't see shit most the time. Or if there were a write up thread on how to do it. With pics.

Oh for sure, I looked and didn’t see a write up just now. Essentially you have the truck turned off for a while so the coolant isn’t hot. Grab a bunch of paper towels. Put some paper towels under the throttle body. Unplug both of the coolant hoses going to the throttle body, coolant will dribble out. The shorter of the hoses, remove from the other side as well, so the shortest hose is completely off the truck. Then plug the longer hose where the shortest hose came from, completing a coolant circuit (with no hoses attached to the throttle body).

People then blow air throw the little exposed coolant hoses to get all the coolant out, optional. Also optional is putting caps on the exposed metal coolant connectors.

Store the little hose somewhere and reverse if you want to return to stock or going to be in very cold temps.

Ambient air temps for the intake will go down significantly, about 20 degrees generally.

May or may not help but if an 05-06, take hoses off TB and join together, put caps on TB to replace hoses. Blow out coolant from TB
if desired, shouldn't be much fluid.

    From 05-06 FSM....

If the 2UZ is like any of the other small block V8s I've worked on, you should be able to grab onto the hose barbs and pull them out versus capping them. If you really want to cap, maybe rubber plug.

I get if someone wanted to potentially reverse later, I get it, leave the barbs in. But TB coolant pass through bibs are often pressed in.

One of these days I'm going to remember to bring a wrench to work, so I can get the cover off and do this. I got nothing better to do at 3am, usually. :D

You're not taking the "barbs" out. When you take the TB hoses off, one can put caps on the TB to replace hoses like shown in below pic. Keeps them stinking dirt daubers away.

Right, I’m just saying, I’d personally want to pull the barbs out if I bypass. For a cleaner look, and less “hacked” appearance, no caps or worm clamps. You could always cap the holes where the barbs were with an assortment of things to avoid leaf cutter wasps and daubers
