PSA, make sure you turn the splash shields the right way before you trim them to fit.

Interesting on the upper mount bracket. its good getting someone else to do the install, so kudos to you! Good news is that you're past most of the hard/time consuming parts. Having come this far, you having the turbo installed and running is going to be a breeze, especially with the the jig Jesse has now to test fit everything.

    Keep up the great work!

This was because you tried to fit the right side shield in the left side and therefore no trim required at all in both sides?

Yes I honestly think the hard part is behind. There is still a bunch of work to do to get it finished but it’s definitely on the downhill slope. I’m so glad I broke this out over days and didn’t try to squeeze it all into a single weekend. I don’t recommend someone brand new to wrenching try this but it’s definitely doable by the average backyard mechanic. It’s not a bolt in but it’s not hard.

Now y’all remind me of that when I start bitching about the injectors and routing the oil drain and finishing all the wiring.

Oil pan and lines weren't hard. The hardest part was getting the pan to break free, actually. Don't warp it, don't scratch the surfaces, plastic scrapers are helpful for both surfaces.

The sending unit was a pita for me. Always had a drip/leak and Jesse ended up fixing it when he took it for tuning. It's easy to route the line, though.

    You've got this.

How did yall do the oil drain? Drill and tap or just drill and start threading the fitting in?

The pan was thin enough to drill, test fit, then rtv sealant on reinstall, let cure.

I tried to make it so I didn't have to clearance the oil pan flange but you need to in order for the return to stay above the oil level in the pan. Another option is to get a fitting welded on instead of threading it in so you don't have to clearance it.

Needs to be higher than this:

If am not wrong I understand this is the new adapter for the oil pan. Maybe can be installed closer to the top of the oil pan. What came with your kit? @centex

Oooh! That is so much easier. Not sure if the drill, test fit, sealant upon reinstall process is different or not.

The install should be the same I think, but definitely this new one is easier to handle because the position of the hose-end can be aligned/move independently.

Yes. Sealing the pan only takes about 1/3 - 1/2 of the tube. You'll have plenty left for the threads.

Def dry fit first to make sure you won't have any issues, and def needs the hole to be higher than my photo with the tape measure. Envious of that new setup you guys have. That'll work really well

Hey Hey, just got back from being away since Thurs. Great progress!! I do have the phone on DND today getting caught up, but feel free to email, PM or call tomorrow or any other day this week and I can go over anything you need clarification on.

In regards to the oil drain, yes, we switched fittings to allow for an easier and higher up install of the oil pan / drain fitting and line.

The rest of it looks like you are trucking right along. It is tight and I think I even put in the instruction that you are going to hate us a few steps along the way, but the prep is definitely the most time-consuming work and once everything is prepped, wrapped and out of the way, the kit does drop in pretty straight forward!

On our shop 2014 and on Brians, we did opt to remove the trans puck hard lines and run 5/8' hose up behind the motor and connect to the hard lines on the front of the head. It ads soooo much clearance to the system! On the 2008, we left them in place, so it can be run either way and we didn't want to force anyone to do it if they didn't want.

Oh you did mention it's going to fight. I think you should put it in big bold letters next revision to add the emphasis haha.

I feel ya! There was a lot of trial and error when i was trying to do a custom intercooler. I could have done the stenciling better, but I still liked it

I think the worst was the lower intercooler bracket. Glad I bolted it in before doing the intercooler because it would have been impossible otherwise. Although I did donate my 12mm flex head wrench to the truck as it got stuck tightening the last bolt on that thing.

Just PAID for and got our NOMAD Valve Body upgrade on the way for the 2016 TRD Pro project. Our plan is to get the kit on, Stage 1, Inj, Stage 2, More boost, etc. Just like we did on the 2014. This way, we have stock -vs- Stage 1, -vs- Stage 1 w- Injectors -vs- Stage 2 at 7ish PSI. We will run some dragy's as well at each step. Then, we will install the valve body and see if any of the numbers change :)

Then we will really start pushing the limits of the kit, truck, engine, etc. See if we can break 600WHP, then shoot for 700WHP, see what this 140K motor / trans can handle. As we said, were not LOOKING to blow anything up, but this new project truck is the one we want to start pushing the limits on!!

I wanted to go Extreme, but since you got the Extreme, I figured a solid side by side comparison of shifting and overall drivability would be nice to have for the community as well. So went with the Nomad. If the Nomad doesn't hold the higher power #s, we'll get an extreme at that point, but wanted to see the difference. More in the drivability really.

@TurboKits just curious for anyone interested in getting your kit, are you available for installs at your shop? Or you wanting to work out the kinks first? I love what your doing keep up the good work!

We actually don't handle customer installs. Brian was semi local and we were working on a heavy round of testing, so that was part of the R&D effort, but as a drop off, install and pick up scenario, we don't have the bandwidth for that. We do have a few local shops, with DYNOs and highly competent tuners tho, that can tackle our installs.

I think you'll be surprised when you start to see the IATs with the Stage 2. While cooler is typically better, for a street vehicle, I'm not sure you're going to see a ton of benefit from a kit like that. I also don't live where it is 100* on the regular, so YMMV. The fact it appeared boost referenced was also pretty cool (pun intended). :)
