Attached is a picture of the roof of my 2014 Tundra. Some kind of coating is peeling back from the paint surface. The paint itself, underneath, looks OK. This started about 2-3 months ago, only on the roof.

I know next to nothing about car paint or paint treatments, so I have questions:
    - Best guess as to what the peeling stuff is?
    - Is the coating most likely factory, or after-market?
    - Most important: Can this be "fixed" by a good detailer, or is this a job for a body shop?

thanks in advance for any responses.

That appears to be the clear coat failing.

Yup, I also have a blue ribbon metallic Tundra with the same issue. I plan to get the roof repainted.

Clear coat failure....no question. Get to a body shop for a repaint. Toyota and Honda, while famous for great drivetrains......have crappy paint and ridiculously thin clear coat.

That is your clear coat. It’s gone. Nothing you can do to save that.
