If anyone has the Insider ratchet and picks up the 1/2” anvil and is in need of a way to store it with all the other bits, I know a guy that might be able to help you out…
(Downloaded a file to print one - the 1/4” anvil is in it)

Almost got out without anything red then spotted this at a display around the self checkout
For 8$ figured it would work good for my poly cutters at work

Does anyone know if Milwaukee makes security torx bits?

Back during the Black Friday/Xmas rush, I had picked up this 1/2” impact socket set.
    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-SHOCKWAVE-Impact-Duty-1-2-in-Drive-Metric-and-SAE-Deep-Well-Impact-PACKOUT-Socket-Set-31-Piece-49-66-6806/320204308

I wasn’t all that impressed with the implementation - the socket trays were sitting on top of ~1” thick foam to make them stay flush with the lid of the case, which wastes a lot of volume just so that they have enough room for the 1-1/2” socket to fit (it’s too big to fit into the shallower packout case).

I had also picked up the 4-drawer packout, and when I started looking I figured out that the trays for the impacts would mostly fit right inside one of the drawers. The only issue was the divider rib at the 1/4 points in the drawer…and the “corner” of the tray where that 1-1/2 socket is.

So I got out the razor knife and made two notches and shaved a bit off the 1-1/2” tray spot and it nestled down into one side of the drawer perfectly.
    IMG_3505.jpg
Did the same for the metric tray (none of its trays extend down enough to need trimmed - just the front and back edge) and dropped it into place. I rigged up a little foam at the back to keep the trays from sliding front-to-back but will eventually 3D print something to hold them snug while making them easy to remove if I need to.
    IMG_3506.jpg
Then I finished by organizing the rest of my sockets and wrenches
    IMG_3507.jpg
    Bottom to Top:
    • Rolling dolly
    • 1/2” impact sockets (bottom drawer)
    • Misc specialty sockets - SAE & Metric hex, Torx, wobblies, adapters, crow’s feet, spark plug, magnetic, etc.
    • Breaker bar, extra ratchets, random extra/duplicate sockets
    • Ratcheting box wrenches, spare random wrenches (top drawer)
    • Milwaukee combo wrench set - metric and SAE (I had bought the wrenches on sale without the packout, then bought the packout insert kit and used the packout from my 1/2” impact sockets)
    • 1/2” socket set (currently on sale with thin packout)
    • 3/8” & 1/4” socket set (bought months ago)
    • Packout medium case with
      • M12 Insider ratchet with metric and SAE bits, anvils, etc.
      • 3/8” M12 standard ratchet
      • M18 1/2” stubby impact
      • M18 1/2” mid-torque impact
    • Impact Lug Nut set (bought Black Friday) - will eventually organize this into the drawers but I need to get some different socket rails first.

I suggested to one of my fiends and he got one, swears by it.
I did check HD and some stuff are on sale or buy this get that free (insider ratchet with free battery) or buy more save more (Buy $1000 and save $400, so 40% off)
I did build a set of the buy more save more, but just wondering if I can and should purge it all at once.
I would like to spread it out but the saving don't stack nor the fact tools don't work with no batteries and chargers.

I love that. Get a packout and add all of the stuff in there to keep inside of your vehicle. I added this, the battery, gloves, stubby torque and misc items in the packout. I posted in this thread somewhere a few pages back or so.

Had to replace the garage unit today. The arms should not be greater than 30*. So I added this to my cart at HD when I went to grab a new garage unit

So, my inflator showed up, initial inspection it looks solid, other than having no battery to check if unit works, but will get to that in a minute.

Here's the questions: Unlike most here in this thread, I am not looking to "collect" all tools and batteries/accessories, but rather, to build out a solid set of tools that is used most, not those once in a purple cheese moon.
I don't work in the hands-on job field, but in-office job (though, looking to quit the mouse job soon), house work (repair and maintenance and such) need to be done, and of course, car maintenance as well. I also don't have a problem with spreading out the cost so that it doesn't hurt too much.
But, with having just "ONE" tool, no batteries/chargers/tools, and if I am limited to just Home Depot (thanks @T-Rex266 for that app, it will be on the watch out), with current discount/sales (or lack of), what would your suggestion be, to at least get me off the ground, with enough tools/batteries/chargers/accessories to get started and not break the bank?
There is always a must-now and maybe-later stuff, would like to hear all of your "suggestion" to get started, just don't burn my bank account with it.....

This slippery slope leads to a never ending rabbit hole...that said, depending on what your actual needs are, and how strong your budget is, usually the best way to acquire more for less is to grab a set of various tools that will usually have at least 2 batteries and a charger. A step down from that would be smaller sets of tools but again, this depends on what you need/want. Some of the "limited time" & "daily deals" are pretty substantial, but they are not all created equal, per se. It can, and likely will, take some stalking and comparing. Case in point:

The most common and most used tool is probably a drill/driver. Close seconds is a 1/4” impact driver because they are more compact and do better for driving things like big wood screws (think outdoor projects like decks are play structures).

Most of the “free battery” deals you see will be connected to the FUEL tools (M12 and M18) - those are the premium line of tools in Milwaukee’s line up - brushless high output motors, perhaps more setting, torque output, lighter weight, etc. features that set them at the top of the food chain. If your tools are what make you money, then that’s the route to go, but for most casual home owners it’s not the necessity (other than the Tim Allen grunt).

Milwaukee also has their standard line of M18 brushless tools that are more economical and still carry the Milwaukee warranty and reputation.

    case in point:
This M18 FUEL drill/impact kit is the creme de la creme at $400 (you can get a third battery for free)

But this kit for $250 has more than enough power and performance for most homeowners. The batteries are smaller capacity, but again, not an issue for more casual use (and also less heavy).

with a basic drill/driver set, then you can consider adding tools as the need arises for various projects. Reciprocating saws are handy for demolition and can be used for yard cleanup/pruning (get the right blade). Circular saws for cutting 2x boards and plywood (with a decent guide). The oscillating tool is very handy for random trim and remodel work. Palm sanders, detail sanders, grinders, nail guns - all of that is really about the task at hand and if you can see justification in the cost of the tool at the time.

I personally waited a LONG time before ever buying a full size impact or any of the ratchets…and I’m still not a heavy user even with my list of truck projects. I’ve long been one that preferred to “feel” the amount of torque I’m putting on something (I use a calibrated torque wrench for wheels and just about anything else I know the spec for). And hand ratchets are much less bulky than any battery powered tool in that space. Though I have started using the 1/2” mid-torque to make removing wheels much faster…
