Now that I have two handguns with built-in light rails, I might actually try getting a light and assuming I can find a holster that fits, carry it. Mine are the S&W 1911PD and Walther PPQ M2 .45 ACP.

I always carry a flashlight and this won't replace that but it might be nice to have both hands on the gun in the dark!

Anyone have a light on their carry pistol?

    Nightstand - yes.

Carry - no. For the simple reason that when I carry - I'm not looking for anything. Acquisition speed is more critical.

My current truck gun has a Crimson Trace rail light that I typically switch out when I rotate guns. Neither of my current CC guns have rails.

Mine has a TLR7 sub, it sticks past the barrel a little bit so it’ll always keep the slide in battery which is nice; and seeing is critical

I think @PermaFrostTRD put it best as far as carry is concerned.

No. But I have thought about it after watching some u tube videos. I can see how it could give you the advantage with an intruder.

I was in one situation where I wished I had a flashlight and it will never happen again.

However, I plan to upgrade my carry pistol to something slightly larger and don’t want the extra bulk of the light. My game plan is to buy a bright flashlight I can carry in my off hand pocket with my spare mag. Not as good as a weapon mounted light, but better than nothing.

Negative on my 365xl. There are pros and cons and reasons it wouldn't hurt but I choose not to add the bulk to a carry pistol. If you want to do it and can conceal comfortably more power to you.

    Are we talking lasers too?

I have a CTC on my LCP, my most carried pistol.
After range time over the years, I can do without it.
But all my holsters are made for the laser..:eek2::cool:

I had a CTC on my 642, but I sold the gun after buying the LCP.

I forgot, I have one pistol with a light on it.

S&W 1911 Sc Roundbutt with the Lightening cuts. I don't carry it (don't like the openings in the slide) but I put a Crimson Trace lasergrip and a Crimson Trace light on it.

The light is not the best design so I can see why it was discontinued. I had a hard time finding the light and when I did, the battery in it was dead even though it was New Old Stock!

It's in the bedside drawer in case I need it. Bright light on the handgun coming on when gripped, pretty nice for home defense.

    ****
I got the idea for carrying a strobing flashlight from the movie "Kick Ass" in 2010. I found and have carried ever since (pouch on belt) a Streamlight Pro Tac 2L (later the 2LX). Three modes, high beam, strobe, and low beam. I use it constantly (mostly low beam) and honestly wonder how I lived so long without a light on my belt!

I was talking with a state policeman about guns and lights and mentioned how useful the strobe would be. "You could lock it on, drop it, and make good your escape since most people will tend to stare at the strobe." The officer replied "or you could just shoot him in the face, which is what I plan to do." You gotta laugh.

    ****
    Seeing some good ideas here.

Top and bottom are my EDC's (I carry a light separately), the middle two rotate on the nightstand.

Working on another for GP/EDC that will be railed and get a light.

When you say 'rotate on your nightstand'... do you mean they are on a lazy susan type device and continually spin throughout the night ;)
