Actually, it was going on as early for Toyota as 2016, with the turd gen Tacoma. They were blowing rear diffs and shit

When y'all coming back this way? That Rigs and Churros in Pearland is this Saturday at noon. It's supposed to be a really big event.

Well it's only Thursday. The thing is Saturday. Just let me know if you wanna go. I'm gonna check it out and try to sell my wheels. I'm not 100% but I think it's basically a Lexus/Toyota meet.. it's supposed to be a big one because Chinese new year or something. The guy I bought the Konigs from puts on the event, in the parking lot of his ice cream and churros shop.

Who said otherwise? My point being the Toyota quality started going down at least a decade ago

I feel like it's been really bad since the turn of the decade.

I just know the 6 spd in a ‘21 taco is awful. Mandatory manual shift unless you wanna float gears.

If I wanted to be mean, I'd say since the 2nd gen Tacoma in 2005, the 2nd gen Tundra in 2007, the fifth gen 4runner in 2010, and the GX460 in 2010 :D:burp:
But the 2016 turd gen taco was a disaster

That's why you gotta tune em. Everyone on TW says the turd gen has to be tuned or its dogshit. Lots of options in Houston. Taco Tunes, OV Tune, etc

Not much, I'm just a hater of the midsize tacos. Too Americanized.
But I enjoy driving my Pop's 2007 taco

I don’t like them because they’re just bloated bodies. It’s not like the frame got wider and made the truck more stable.

The interior is cramped compared to our trucks. I loved my first gen Taco though. I don't hate Dad's 07 Taco. The 4.0 v6 is nice. Timing chain, too. His is a 5spd auto, prerunner

Of course. You’d need the wider frame to safely increase the interior size. It’s all for show.

Toyota's had a penchant for Americanizing since forever.

What they did going from the 1st gen Scion xB to the 2nd gen was a travesty.

Grandpa’s ‘21 taco that has a higher floor, and shorter roof has a 3.5 v6 that avan compete with the 4.7, but the garbage 6 speed cant hang unless you’re staying in the right lane. It needs 4k rpm to hold its own, like my ‘02 does at 2krpm.

The move from pickup to first gen Tacoma in 1995 (the only year both Tacoma and pickup were available for sale new) was the beginning of their truck division really trying to hit the American market hard. But they nailed it, because it was still designed and built in Japan. Then they started designing trucks in Japan but building here. Then they started designing and building here and now we see issues. Coincidence? I think not.

Even the third gen tacos are cramped. I had a 21 Taco before selling it and buying my 1st gen Tundra. My knees were in the dash and if I had a front end wreck......bye bye knee caps. Even with the seat all the way back and the steering wheel adjusted. I did love the truck, but it's just not designed for taller folk.

Have to agree with you. My MIL has one and it is very uncomfortable to drive. Seat is way too low. Not sure why the Tacoma is so popular. I have not liked them since the '16 body change.
