Hey all! I saw these and ordered them the day after getting my Tundra, but I don't love how low the hardware hangs. Could be that it's not leveled and with better tires yet, but I'm contemplating throwing them on marketplace and getting the TRD cast aluminum ones. Anyone made the swap? Worth the time? Do the RB20s look better once leveled with new tires? Ever get hung up on the brackets?

    Thanks all!

No regrets for me since it's the only way for my wife and kids to get into the truck comfortably.

No regrets for me either. Mine are the standard RB20s and I love how tight they tuck up to the truck. Not sure the TRD boards are going to have lower profile mounting brackets. I have stock suspension, but 285/60r20 BFG KO3s.

probably should specify if those rb20 are the normal or slim version, could be misleading to those that dont know the difference.

I have the slim RB20. I’m satisfied. They look fine and do the job but they are thin so you will hear them when water splashed up under them. The TRD cast are much heavier and definitely better quality but the RB20 k get the job done.

I have the RB20 slims and I don't like them. Wife hates them since they dont have enough room to step on while getting out of the truck. will be selling them shortly.

Thanks all! I really like them functionally but just don't love the look of the hardware underneath, I'm weird I'm sure lol. I'm sure I can't return/send them back so may give FB Marketplace a shot and hope I don't get killed, lol.

I had the slim version, I really liked them other than the mounting hardware. I don't offroad much, but damn those brackets hang down low! I ended up selling mine and purchased another running board that I like even less... Now I'm just waiting until something better looking comes out.

Where/how did you end up selling yours?? I may do this and grab the TRD cast aluminum ones.

I had the rb20 slim and mounted them 'backwards' so the wider part is toward the front door. I liked them a lot. The way they are built you will hear every tiny pebble hit them and it is loud like TING TING lol. I also doubt their longevity in real winters. Would have to touch them up every year, coat them with rust converter I think. Maybe you can get 5+ years out of them.

The OEM side steps even the predator steps which people love to hate on are much higher quality of materials imo. The TRD cast aluminum ones are really nice once you see them in person you can appreciate the price is slightly more justified.

Thinking the same thing. I added them so early on I didn't realize that noise wasn't the undercarriage, lol. Wonder if Real Trucks may allow me to return them since they're still essentially new.

No regrets with my RB20 slims. I think they are one of the best looking running boards out there. For better protection I had mine Line-X coated including the underside and mounting brackets and hardware. No TING TING sounds on my boards and everything looking like new after two winters.

It seems you have plenty of room (without modifications?) for the 285/60/r20?

Zero issues with clearance with the 285/60r20 tire size.

What did you buy that you liked even less?

I bought the Tyger Star Armor because I liked the way they looked on a friends 4runner. After installing I realized they hang just as low, if not lower than the brackets on the RB20's and I liked the look of the RB20's more. For now, I'm keeping the Tyger boards on.

    * Looked these up to answer the question and realized when I purchased them they were almost half what they are listed for now!

Just in case if anyone wants to check out my video. I do like them but agree that the brackets do hang down a little lower so do keep that in mind if you gonna be doing on off roading. Other than that, I love mines.

IMG_6677.jpg I have the RB20 Slims. I like the step. I don’t like the low hanging brackets. I looked to see if I might could figure out something I can do. But grinding bottom 1/2 off would weaken them. Thought about bending bottom 1/2 up. But, I haven’t tried it yet. So far I’ve been putting up with it. I think they need to make the brackets thicker and smaller.
