Mine came with one. Right now I’m just holding a bunch of junk and I’m really missing out on those coin holders and extra space… not sure if I should remove it or keep it in. Thoughts??

They’re good to have if you do a lot of traveling with stuff that may need to be locked up.

otherwise, my center console just get filled up with crap, so there’s that.

I had some stuff stolen out of mine by a valet driver once. Other than that it’s mostly useless shit in there

For the past 10+ years I have always installed a console lock in my vehicles. If yours came with one, use it! You can easily sell it as well. Look at it this way, cheap insurance that in your case is paid for. I also use my console safe for a very specific reason and need on in my vehicle.

One of my first mods was to add my console safe. I have specific things I store in it, but I also have a part of the console open to store stuff without having to open the safe.

The safe is amazing. If you need it, you need it. Not sure why anyone would ever want to remove it, it’s a superb use of the console space. Plus there is room on the side, and in front of the shifter, for incidentals.

I got the OEM safe for my 22 Sierra HD. I use it for camper and trailer keys, and keep a firearm in it at all times. 95% of the time the truck is just parked in my garage.

I'm not sure about the Tundra version, but it is NOT quick access. If you are using it to store a spare firearm that's fine, but if you're carrying..carry.

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
Just installed mine a month ago. I was pleasantly surprised how heavy and well built it seems. I would keep it.

Will the console safe fit an sr5 double cab? Ebay says no.

Keep my pistol in it when I'm not carrying. Other than that, keeps my center counsel more organized. Amazing how much crap it can generate.

If you carry a gun daily it's a good idea to have it. Not that I carry one, but I know a guy that does and uses it.

I just ordered one today, that center console is a tank of a space so I’m actually looking forward to it being organized a little better with less space and security when I need it.

Both, keeps then gun in a holster in the truck, and when he's parked he puts it inside the safe.

Mine came with one… I think port installed. When I was shopping 3rd gens, I never added this to my build sheets. It does take up a lot of console space. However, the factory one is very well made and very tamper proof. Just like others have said, it is extra insurance and peace of mind if you want to throw your wallet, phone or hole puncher in there. I’ve got a backup micro compact that hibernates in there eternally… which also gives peace of mind.

What micro compact do you have? I have a P365 that I absolutely love, although I wouldn't call it "micro". It was the smallest, concealable single-stack I could find at the time.

We should move this conversation to the “firearms” forum… but yes, I’ve got a P365.. that’s a SWEET little piece !! Mine has the 12rd mags with the little mag sleeves. Pulled the sleeves and did flat floor plates. Replaced grip frame with Wilson Combat 365X frame with the three backstrap weights and did the Sig flat trigger. That gun shoots much bigger than it actually is. Sleeping in my console safe is a Ruger LCP .380, just for backup. If I decide to carry its typically a larger caliber and on my person. But let’s say you need to walk into a bank or hospital where you’ll be scanned, can leave your weapons secured in the console safe..
My current go to combat/service is an FN 509M, but the Sig carries much better !

Actually, I think the mags are a staggered double stack… amazing how thin the grip is though.

I'm one of the few Californians who have a CCW Permit. (long adventure).
Most car break-ins the console is the first place someone will look.

I have two of these one in each in my Tundra and Grand Cherokee. I have them under the passenger seat looped around the seat mounts.
Could be cut but you would need some heavy duty cutters. If needed I can carry the case in a backpack as well.

I do the same if I am not carrying. Better than the glovebox, IMHO.
