Went with a tan X300 and some new grips: VZ ETC FRAG - Marsoc. Still hunting for a magwell...

The finish on this gun is growing on me and I wouldn't mind keeping it as-is for a while; I just don't really care for the NRA logo on the slide.

Is there any other work around other than having it etched off and cerakote the gun?

    I like it...

I just think magwells on a 1911 really finish it off. I dont see a downside to them.

Decided that the 10mm Springfield was just not for me. I stumbled upon this used DW Classic (CBOB) at a LGS and was able to work out a trade that was more than fair, so I did the deal.

They had a new Valor (VBOB) in, but it was a bit more than I wanted to spend. I just ordered some new grips for it already too...

I have considered getting a Dan Wesson 1911 Commander in .38 Super Auto but I'm kinda wedded solid to the .45 ACP. Plus, money is tight.

Looks to clean up nice. Do they make the Tac Ops anymore? Want to say no.

Finally added a Specialist 45acp to my collection...

Bought it on GB last week and picked it up yesterday. It was listed as used by the seller who claimed he purchased it from a collector. As far as the seller and I can tell this gun has not been fired outside of the factory test fire...its super clean for a 11-year-old gun.

This is a first-generation Specialist (pre-2019) and has some aesthetic differences from when DW re-released them in 2021. This is actually my first full-size 1911 and its a beast. I've shot them but it's been a while, all my others are Commanders or Officers...I forgot how stout they are.

Now to decide on which grips:

I almost picked one of these up awhile back. Have you had any issues or has it been perfect??

No issues, rock solid gun from what I've seen and experienced. I'd buy it again for sure.

It's really close.. I posted in a gun forum and the OE (top) grips are winning in the polls.

I think the top make a better combo with the X300. The bottom set looks better sans the light.

Oh, I see.... so, you're answer shopping :smash:

In that case, you should've bought a Glock :poking:

Didn't like the EMP huh? I was looking at one for a possibility as a full time carry weapon.

I definitely do not want a Kimber (bad prior experience).

    What do you daily now?

I should have kept the Kimber, I just got caught up in the EMP hype.
Back in those days I was modding EVERY handgun I owned, I finally outgrew that.:p

The EMP was great, I just decided a cocked and locked single-action trigger wasn't for me for a carry gun.
The guy who bought it was ecstatic about it.
As much as I practiced with the EMP, I decided I needed a little slack in the trigger of a carry pistol.
Also the 1911 grip is a bit thin for my hand.

I'd dare say I shot the EMP better than the Kimber CDP.
This was just messing around plinking, I wasn't trying that hard.
    bbf086d2-9b55-4eef-a72e-41ccfd7f2a27_b9db1977a07f5dc5f20dc11f6bf6b361368f52d5.jpg

My most carried pistol these days is my original LCP, it's just too easy to carry.
Although I'm trying to make time to go to my local range and rent a S&W Bodyguard 2.0.
It is a tad bigger than the LCP, but allegedly shoots pretty sweet and has 10 rds in the mag.

    BODYGUARD 2.0 | Smith & Wesson

I can't remember what I've posted here and I'm too lazy to look.
    I've only owned 9mm 1911s.
The best one I owned was my Dan Wesson Guardian.
That was a sweet straight shooter.
Also, the bobtail felt good in my hand, it's the reason I got both the Kimber and EMP grip butt rounded..

One of the most accurate guns I've ever owned, except for my stock West German Sig P226.

This is the sweetest 1911 on this thread. I have the same gun new in the box with the paper wrapper around the grips. Awesome gun......
