Repiped my mom’s house this weekend and my m18 fuel hackzall died after about 40 cuts through galvanized pipe. I probably bought this thing in 2010 so it definitely had a good run and I might have be trying to go to fast and put too much pressure on the saw. Anyways, I’m looking for any deals on the same saw, anyone know of any? HD has tool and 5Ah battery for 250 or just tool for 170.

Pex throughout. Way easier to maneuver the pex into the spots needed and was decently cheap aside from the tool.

I never installed pex before this weekend. I can't believe how simple that tool made it. I had a few people tell me the connectors don't spread evenly and sometimes you have to try a few to get it to sit properly. With that milwaukee tool every one was super easy, at first I thought I was doing something wrong.

yup...makes it a breeze...1" takes a bit longer to expand but its not a problem at all, half inch lines are a breeze even with a tiny 2.0....plus no flow restrictions with pex-a unlike pex-b aka "crimp" pex.

Last time I did a claim they wanted original receipt, I couldn't even tell you where I bought it from. There is a repair shop on my way home that does warranty for milwaukee. Maybe I'll take it in and see if they can run the serial number on it for a claim. Thanks! I didn't even think to try that.

I will have to replace some leaking pipes in my camper this spring.....I have pex B with all of the tools. The pex a tubing with the sleeve doesn't seem as sturdy but the pex a is a bit more flexible. I am wondering how those compression fittings last in a camper set-up and if there is need to use pex a. I would prefer not to have to buy the tool as well. Anyone have an opinion on pex a vs pex b in a camper set-up? Maybe I will have to purchase the Milwaukee pex spreader tool.

I don’t want to stop you from adding to your collection but HD rents the pex tool for 40 bucks a day…

Yes, this is the way.....shouldn't take more than a day. I will likely not need the tool again so no sense in spending $400 if I don't have to..........UNLESS i decide to replace some of the copper pipes in the house!!!!

Theyll both work well for what youll need in a camper. Pex-a will be constant tension since the sleeves are trying to return back to their original size. B is only as strong as the crimp and that is why you have a go/no-go tool to check for proper crimps. From videos I've seen, they both hold psi VERY well and the fittings dont fail under pressure, its the actual pipe that bursts.

You could always buy the manual expander for cheap and keep it in the camper for emergency repairs. No need for the fancy milwaukee.

Had the chance to use a pro press the other day, can't remember the brand for some reason (starts with a V?) Anyway, I am an old school/old timer who still likes to sweat everything, but It was pretty slick. And keeps you from having to wait around after doing "hot work"
