Thanks for the info. I was about to order the 4.5" but now I'm going to order the 7" instead.

    I installed a
ESI ROK Block XL Tailgate Gap Cover 7" Width and Ultimate Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal 6' for sidewalls today. I had concerns like you with those gaps so I used some RV roof tape I had laying around from when I would go mudding in my RZR. IDK if it was needed but made me feel better doing it. My bed rug arrives tomorrow & I’ll be good to go then.

I installed the seal kit Krusty recommended on page #1 of this thread. It only helps minimally. My bed still gets miserably dusty, and now the seals are starting to fall off after about a year. I've tried other similar products with the same results.

I've never understood why manufactures can't seal the tailgates better. Especially for those of us who use tonneau covers. I've fought this problem with every truck I've owned.

I've resigned to just live with it, and cover anything that I want to stay clean with a tarp.

I know it’s not perfect but the 7” seal should help a lot with keeping out the dust.

The majority of truck owners don’t have tonneau covers or caps… it’s an open bed. You don’t want to have a swimming pool back there when it rains.

I'm pretty sure there are drain holes designed specifically for that purpose.

Besides, water doesn't drain out of the huge gaps on the sides of the tailgate, but that's where the majority of dust gets in.

I have gaskets all the way around, pretty much water tight between those and some silicon I added, but ya if you just drop on the tonneau stock its going to leak

As I stated above, I've tried several gasket kits, including the one Krusty recommended earlier on this thread. They only help minimally with dust.

As I've mentioned on other threads, I live in the country 7 miles from the nearest paved road. Our dirt county roads get extremely dusting. I can power wash my bed, and after one trip to town, it looks like I never touched it with the sprayer.

I still maintain we should not have to install aftermarket seal kits, which are basically a band-aid solution, to a $70K truck.
