My 2013 tundra makes a knocking noise when idling after first starting up but goes away after the engine is warmed up. Will sound for a few seconds then goes away and slowly comes back. Dissappear completely after engine is warmed up. Drives fine

Where do you live. It’s been single and negatives here in Maine last 2 weeks. What oil weight are you running

I have UZ with 5/30. People say the noise quiets with 5 30 on the UR. Oil pressure and level good? My 02 did it and my 07 will do it if it’s real cold out.

    Could this be catastrophic sounds?

I mean if it’s a real knock then it would be persistent IMO vs building oil pressure and lubricating. I had close to 330k on the 02 without burning oil and have 220k on my 07 without issues so I’m not worried. If it’s persistent when warm then yea. The 2nd gen section is pretty quiet aside from posting about mods and such so good luck.
