My neighbors boss photoshopped him in this meme. His wife actually thought it was funny.

They are fun to catch. This one was caught close to low tide so the reach with the dull pointed hook I use had me laying on my stomach to reach him. I have to wear the fish out enough to get his head out of the water and hold it with my right hand on the rod while getting the dull hook in the gill slit to left him up. My muscles remind me how out of shape I am.

Hopefully our daughter is going Broadbill and Wahoo fishing on Monday. Giant Wahoo are far offshore Galveston this time of year. This is one of a few they caught this past Tuesday!

The captain called her, this is only a couple people going that know how to fish. Said he wants to leave at midnight because he wants bait in the water at sunrise 200 miles out! Says that is where the big ones have been!
I am glad she gets to go, it is dang near a bucket list trip as far as going that far out! :)

    200 ESE of Freeport

calm seas from Mississippi thru Venice all the way over here for a few days. It does not happen that often during winter on the Gulf Coast.

I think the Perdido semi submersible drilling platform is still out there. That would explain why they are going that far out.

Wooha just a little off shore! I'm sure alot of the structure is still present and will offer some good hunting grounds.
She's in for some good fishing I hope the weather pattern is solid for the next few days for them.
Post some pic's when she gets home.

First one earlier this morning. They are on StarLink so might get some good fresh pictures. They are a tad over 100 miles out, a Sportfish (flybridge) spent the night out there and got on them this morning so they stopped there to fish a bit. They left at 1am.

First one and a shark got it's tail

They fished 100 miles out and then some. Headed back in. Ended up with 5 Wahoo and 2 Blackfins. Broke off 5 or 6 times, not happy about that! Starting to head in and fishing along the way. Pictures to follow tonight sometime. IMG_5922.jpg

Not much other news. The ones that broke off were nothing more than big fish and using to small wire.
There were ten boats out there and that pushed the fish down. One boat caught a few but they were using downriggers and live bait.
This bunch caught five wahoo and two blackfin tuna. Neighbor of the Capt
came and took a small one before they took pictures! HA!!
They trolled around this rig on the way home. No one home.

For a Monday there were too many big boats out there. They came from all over, had to dodge all the bigger boats. It was calm seas, so calm they were cruising at 40mph going out and coming in. That makes for shorter rides! :)

Very limited access to our campground fishing pier has us going out to the public pier at the end of the peninsula. 11 mile drive each way and due to the design of the structure, very difficult to use any type of net to land anything big. We just aim for Whiting, Flounder and Croakers to feed Marvin, the Blue Heron. Pancake shaped rechargeable light from Amazon hangs off the surf rod. I keep myself occupied looking up the commercial ships going in and out of Mobile Bay using an AIS tracker.

Another big fish from Louisiana! :) I believe this person is part of a group of people here in Texas that has gotten together and they pitch in and do nothing but jig and surface lures to catch fish. Our daughter is planning to join the club and go fish with this bunch.

I see as to why she'd want to join!
Man jigging and top water action is the best of both worlds.
I have that same slow pitch rod (well same manufacturer) I don't know what specs that one has but a great stick.

Daughter is headed offshore this morning.
There have been reports of Queen Snapper being caught and an 800+ pound Bluefin Tuna was brought into Galveston a day or two ago. I have never seen a Queen Snapper caught offshore Galveston before!

My daughter found this picture on FB from yesterday offshore Freeport or Matagorda either way I have never caught a Queen Snapper nor have I ever seen one caught offshore Galveston Freeport area. It is nice to see these here and they also got into some Tile and Grouper. I think it was a bunch from Texas Slow Pitch Jigging???? I am not sure?????? Nice picture though!:)
I also blacked out his face being I do not know him.
