    Thanks everyone for this thread. I was wading through the weeds of different covers trying to weigh security, profile, and aesthetics of all the covers and you all sold me on the Diamondback cover. I love my truck but have been using the back seat for storage since I got it. Usually it's fine, I typically travel with 2 people or just myself and anytime someone has to sit in the back I usually have 1 seat available. However, I've been growing more storage back there, my golf clubs have taken up residence in there along with roadside emergency equipment, and a case of water. One of the biggest things I was looking for was a cover that would do well against the elements. I don't want my jumper pack deteriorating from the freezing temps or 110degree heat from the baking summer sun. So anything that can provide some buffer from the elements (the closer to how well my cab does the better) is ideal, but I also want as much of a theft deterrent as possible. If it looks like a pain in the ass to break into then that will screen a lot of the assholes that run around my apartment complex breaking into garages from taking a second look at what might be in my truck bed, then all the more reason to shell out the money now rather than on a second cover cause they busted the first one.

    My only problem now is finding a lock for my tailgate. Sort of defeats the purpose of having a super secure bed cover when all they'd have to do is open the tailgate at the moment. Can anyone recommend an equally sturdy tailgate lock that would work with my gen1?

I'm actually just left off in my build thread and going to pick up with the diamondback hd cover with atv package. I'll be going into depth on it soon. I needed a little break from the build thread. Either I'll post the cover this weekend or pick up mid to end next week on it. Point being, if interested in this cover I'll be getting into it's capabilities real soon on my build.

    I have an HD and am struggling to make it waterproof. I have it down to a few drips after adding some rubber seals around the edge of the bed rails. The rubber of the HD sits on the rubber of what I added. I need to remove the cover and put some under the mounting base as I think that is where the drips are coming in. Did anyone else have this problem?

    I've only ever had any water sneak in near front and rear corners. It seems this is only due to the blast of water when washing coming in sideways and hard. Never from the middle and not even really any from regular nature's elements. If u are getting some water from middle it could be from an issue with the channels in the seam? Even when the cover is soaked I can open mine all the way up and the water just funnels down those seams and off the side of the bed. Tell u what, the guys over at Diamondback are very knowledgeable and most own and use the product themselves. Chances are they might have encountered your issue before with someone and can point u in the right direction. Hope helps somewhat.

    I also stood on top of mine adding some extra downward pressure while having a friend tighten everything down. Don't know if u did this as well, but mine was tight and waterproof without adding any additional rubber seal. We definitely tightened the shit out of it the 1st time I secured and have yet to have any issue waterproofing except in the above mentioned cases.

    Maybe underneath the linex cover where both sides meet in the middle securing piece that got bent? Maybe in shipping or installation that metal channel that catches the water when opening with water on the cover got bent down instead of curling up, allowing the water to overflow before building up and running across off side? Good luck in finding the cause. Like I said before u might want to contact diamondback, anytime I spoke with them they were very helpful. If u are having an issue, chances are someone else out there already had the same.

    What bed step is that if you don't mind me asking? I'm guessing the bed step you have would also offer some protection God forbid u were rearended?

    Yeah I was rear ended on a freeway offramp years ago when I was stopped in traffic. My left knee ate the dash and permanently screwed up. The step bar is made by GoRhino and I love it.

    After talking to the folks at Diamondback, told them I was looking for a cover easy to install and remove. They answered all questions. Also like how tough diamondplate is, too. They will ship in 12 days.

    If u can live with the middle piece staying installed it is extremely easy to remove front and rear halves that raise. Simply lift and slide off. The middle takes little longer.

    Good tip, that means most of the time I will only need to remove front & rear panels for a Kayak rack I use when I'm towing a travel trailer.
