:D. It is a true 8' bed. My Tundra had a 5.5' bed, so having this one is nice when I had to carry several boards in a building project :). It also has the 5th wheel set up. I have the ball that sits in the middle, but not a true 5th wheel hitch. But I don't tow a fifth wheel, so that is ok. I have it if I need it.

The nice thing is the tool box does not take up so much space!

ETA: I am getting used to the bed though. When I was first looking, I was going to stick to the 6' 4" bed but the deal on this with the mileage was too good to pass up. Now having used it to haul wood, and one piece hutches, the 8' bed was the best choice!

Nice truck, congratulations! I've done about 500K miles spread across three mopar products and had mostly good luck with them. Stay OCD on your maintenance and I suspect you'll be happy. Their forum support is great too (many very knowledgeable enthusiasts).

Thank you. Since buying it I have already done the Oil Change, the Front and Rear Diffs oil, and the transfer case oil.

I am getting it into the shop in a week to have my Mechanic and have them go over it with a fine tooth comb on top of what I have already done.

I usually do every 5K miles, so I change my oil once a year, about. This year will be two times. I just ran it through the car was to get the salt off the underbody.

New Rhino Liner and I am enjoying it! I did join the HD Ram forum, and have gotten so much help so far.

Your comment about the miles gives me comfort, and I will also be getting a manufacturer backed warranty through the local dealership and then see how it goes. So far, I am happy and pleased.

Good luck with the Ram! Coworker has the 6.4 of that same generation, pushing 300k miles, its been a solid truck.

That sounds like a gooseneck ball, not a 5th wheel. Most prefer the gooseneck setup as it takes up very little to no room in the back. If the ball is sitting upright in the bed now, it's likely that you can pull the pin under the bed and flip it over out of the way. Nice looking truck with the looooooooooooooooooooong bed.

That is great news. It is the 6.4L and I was able to play with the gear limitation today a little. The truck does feel solid. A few noises I am not used to so as a precaution I am going to have my local mechanic look at it and then get the warranty. But, thank you. I never thought I would own a Ram, and I was looking at a couple other trucks (Titan being one of them), and then went back to the Ram. Just works, right now.

That is exactly what I have. Although the pin for this is on the ball itself, not in the wheel well. It does take up very little room, and looks great. It was jammed in place when I got it and took some banging to get it out, but it is out and I will be replacing that one of these days. It is not urgent because I do not see myself pulling a gooseneck (didn't know there was a difference, so that is good to know) any time soon. The ball had to come out with the liner being done and it is great.

It does has the harness attachements in place to do a quick connect of lights, winches, and what not so I am looking at a light bar for when I am hunting, but that is down the road.

Thank you and yes, I do like the long bed. I have some camping ideas with it. I am going to make a tarp type poles (like the old prarie scooners), and then drap a few tarps over the bed, and down between the bed and cab. Then a second tarp going out from the back and stake it all down. Then set up my cot in the bed with my other gear and camp in that. Going to see how that is and now that I have a longer bed, my tall self can fit in easier, LOL!

I did not know we had that on this site. Sure, I can always use advice and direction, and if I can glean more info from here and the other forum, I am game!

    Thank you!

I only invite people that move on to heavy duty trucks. We only have one person in the PM that doesn't have a HD truck and is in the process of deciding.

I can guarantee that it has better info than any of the HD forums. Couple of the guys have Rams with the 6.4L. So far they have had pretty good luck with them.

Congrats on the purchase and continued support from this site.

I would not delete your profile as this group is full of knowledge and an all around decent group regardless of what you drive. If I ever get rid of mine, it will be for a Power Wagon or Longhorn 2500. I miss my Rams, but love my Tundra. That new truck is miles ahead with comforts so I hope she is good to you. All 3 of mine were great trucks through till the end. I would still have my last one had an F350 not ruined it for me.

Thank you. That was the biggest thing I didn't want to do was to throw a Ram up on a Tundra site. But knowing that I am welcomed, even though it is not a Toyota, and with the HD section I was invited to, I will hang around for sure. This is my first HD, and my first Ram, and so far, I am very pleased with it.

I wasnt a fan of the 1500 ram pages. One wasnt terrible, but they are no where as useful as this site. Long time ago, I was even a mod for a site and I still think this one is better.

They make good trucks. They sell a lot of them too. They used to be the least expensive which opened the door to a lot of vocal people bashing them. Yes, some have issues, but Rams out performed my Fords. And the Tundra leaves so much to be desired on the interior.

I am glad to hear you say that. When I first went looking for a forum, I stumbled on one of those, and I was quickly told to go to another site. So, I left. I am glad it wasn't me, and I agree. This site has been super helpful with my old Tundra so I am excited to learn more. I had issues with a previous Ford I drove, and so I knew I wanted something different. I was torn between a GMC or a Ram and the Ram was affordable :). I have not sat in the new Tundras, but I read the stories on here and knew it was not for me.

My wife's Camry is rock solid. I think it only has needed her oil change and checks. Hoping to get that from the Ram. My dad used to own an old green 1980's Ram, square body. That thing was built like a tank.

I almost killed myself in it, LOL! But, here I am, back to the Ram again!

I did this for awhile and it was awesome even with only a 5.5 foot bed. Covered wagon style

Good to hear. What did you use in the bed pockets? I have been bouncing between using old tent poles, or building my own with PVC's, and angles with foot pad PVC on my Tool Box to keep a level ridge.

How was your set up? Did you have a ridge, or did you round out the tarps? Did you use tarps?

I am bouncing around with a few things, and will get started on that when I get a chance.

For bed size, the 8' then will be perfect for what I am looking at. I do tent camping, travel trailer camping, and I tried backpacking (did it once, and can do it but not my favorite). So this is one more angle to try.

The one Ram forum I am on, while having good info, is not the most active. I have found this site to be very helpful, and now with the chat, I know I will be able to get the help I need for sure, in a timely manner.

    Perfect! it looks like home!

The only thing I might do is add one more tarp to the front for rain protection, if need be, but this is exactly what I am looking for!

Thanks for sharing because it also solves a couple other things I was looking for or trying to figure out.
