Do y’all leave your AC on when turning the truck off? I feel like it makes the truck work harder at first startup if you leave the AC on so I always turn it off, I tell my wife all the time to turn it off but she always forgets, am I just paranoid? is it harmless to the truck? Yes I’m one of those people that wait at least a minute or 2 before driving off at first startup

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I do the same thing. I usually wait until I hear the air pump (AIP) turn off before I drive away. Then I always turn the AC off before I shut the truck down. I also 'amp' it up slowly as I move along, instead of turning it on max immediately (I know that it will already do this, but I do it anyway).

Maybe, I am just paranoid like you.

Out of curiosity are you a "prepper"?

I’ve always done that with all of my vehicles. Radio also.

I always do the same also. Both on a 2002 Tacoma with the 3.4 and a 2015 Tundra. I have everyone turn the AC off for 15 seconds before turning the engines off.
All three Toyotas, wife's is a Highlander, do have a delay and the AC clutch does not engage during starting.

I don't care about any of that. But I do try to turn off the AC before I get to my destination because people say that's what causes "smelly sock syndrome".

I learned from my grandfather and father that you are supposed to do that so i always give it a minute or 2 minutes on colder days to warm up and get everything warmed up a little. i did it on my first car a Honda Civic, my 2nd car a Nissan Versa and my Tundra now. better safe then sorry in my opinion. i make sure to turn off the ac before i turn the truck off every time and i always put the parking break on but thats doing the most LOL

I try to turn off AC and radio and any other device I have on before I shut off the vehicle. The wife does the same. In older classic cars I would think this would be more prevalent compared to newer cars.

Now my oldest son leaves everything on and I am surprise he remembers to shut off the vehicle, close the door, and lock it.

I'm in Texas and I never turn the A/C or radio off, 6 years on my 2010 Tundra and my 2017 as well, never any problems. Wife and daughter always turn radio and A/C off though!

A little of this and a little of that.
I always turn off the AC and seat heaters before shutting the truck down. Once in a while I’ll forget the seat heaters but the AC, never. I let my truck warming up in the mornings to at least until it gets up to half way warm according to the temp gauge, then start rolling slow.

My wife on the other hand never turns off the AC and drives it from a cold start. I’ve told her a 100 x and nada.

Here in Colorado I don't use the AC, BUT growing up in FL (pre 1996) on older vehicles the AC techs would tell you that cold starting with the compressor engaged is not good for it. I have no clue how the system works or even if that is true but I never left it on when I turned off the truck.

I've never turned anything off in any of my vehicles. Haven't had any electrical or AC/heater issues. First time I've heard of this.

    Bingo!

About 3 miles from your destination is supposed to be enough time for it to "dry out".

Yep, turn the AC and radio off before turning the truck off. Probably was more important 25 years ago, but it's something that is a habit and can't hurt. I see VA tags, where ya't?

So... I guess there's no point in getting remote start installed. 'Cause the benefit of having it would be to get the temperature right before getting into the cab. Whatcha think?
