I don't think I used Siberian on my T3. Maybe Coach Builder? But upper and lower are all poly on stock A-arms. It's a little noisy, but worth it for the better handling

Ran into my older sis the other day who recently bought a RAV4. Apparently Toyota has a melting/warping plastic trim issue that occurs from the vehicle sitting in the sun and Toyota won’t cover it under their bumper to bumper manufacturer warranty. I wonder if this extends to their Tundras?

 

Subaru has the same issue. It’s the sun being magnified off of glass. Like from another cars window or mirror. I’ve seen it a few times and there is a TSB on it.

 

Bring back metal dash boards and chrome trim!

 

Or maybe just get some ceramic window tint

 

I can picture it just saying “Don’t park in direct sunlight”. lol

 

I was thinking about using some poppy’s patina wipe in clear coat on my truck. I don’t care about a new paint job but would like to protect the trucks from fading more and it’s relatively cheap and easy to apply. What do y’all think about it?

I don't know but I'm hearing reports that even the 2024-2025 Tundra's are having engines blow. I suspect Toyota will be extending the recall and now I wonder if they even know what the real root cause is.

 

Supposedly, “solar convergence” is what I’m reading and because newer buildings are using higher reflective glass it’s now become a problem along with manufacturers using cheaper, thinner plastics.

 

What year, again? I'm not making any promises but I've got some notoriety for finding documentation on the internets.

It might help if I actually look at the packaging.

OEM gasket is included. I'll probably disobey Sue and roll with the gasket. I think Toyota must have updated this part at some point because hers had bolts for the water pump pulley and mind didn't.

I also noticed that Aisin scratched out the word Toyota on the new water pump.

 

I'm confused because Wikipedia says 4th gen (XA40) starts in 2012, but the service manuals I'm finding are saying XA40 starts in 2013. I'm going with a mishmash of the info.

Sue is the best. They sure as hell don’t set her up for success in those videos. She either cuts off or burns off every nut. Those trucks in the videos are all so rusted out.

Dude my wife’s odyssey is the same way. So frustrating to work under the hood. Or under the car. It’s like 3” off the ground to the bottom of the oil pan.

 

No, stock everything. 4600s and the original TRD springs.

It's just been nearly 220k miles of terrible midwest roads, and for much of the trucks life, a driver who didn't care at all about the truck. The springs are done.

Now I'm just getting carried away. The upstream O2 sensor is a lot easier to get out with the radiator removed so I went for it. Spending money is fun!




I'm making progress. Water pump and alternator are in. Just waiting on NAPA to tell me my tensioner is ready to pick up.

This is why I take screen shots of the image of the item for sale so if the company gives me a hard time about what was for sale based on the photo I am headed straight to the credit card company for recourse, along with the screen shot of the product I ordered or thought I was ordering anyway.

The way I broke into maintenance and repairs of my own vehicles was when my 80 Supra broke down on the highway (fan clutch, fan and damaged radiator) on my way to college for an exam back in 1986. I had to get it towed to the dealership and the cost for both was $250. I didn't even know what a dip stick was at that time. After that incident my philosophy was...it's broke so I can't break it anymore than it is, so I may as well try and figure it out. Thirty nine years later and I can fix anything I choose to fix now.

Damn, the junk yards have woken. Back in the day you could get something like that for $20-30. I noticed they have a lot this stuffed inventoried and priced handsomely these days.
