Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) option worth it?

Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Load-leveling Rear Height Control Air Suspension

My dealer has one coming in March. This option is about $1k
The ones who has experience with it, what do you guys think, is it worth additional $1k and two month waiting?

 

yes, 100% worth it, comfort mode empty is awesome via AVS

and if you haul or tow the load leveling is fantastic, you can also lower the truck to hitch up or load which is nice. never have any sag and keeps everything super level while you pull, etc.

absolutely. If you ever want to change shocks/struts, you can and will not set off any codes or dash lights. I've had an opportunity to swap over to Pro suspension, TWICE. And both times I decided to keep my AVS because of how nice it is to switch over to Comfort when driving on bumpy roads and Sport when taking tight corners and don't want to feel like I'm on a boat.

 

It was my initial thought, then i read some posts with controversial opinions and this guy claims that he does not feel the difference and it does not make sense to spend any money on this option.
I don't know who he is and what his opinion worth.

there is no way you can't tell the difference, its pretty significant, its also the trans, shocks, steering, etc that changes.

and there is 100% difference in the load leveling, no saggy truck hauling or towing.

There is 100% change in the driving characteristics. Steering tightens up in Sport and Sport+, rear suspension softens up A LOT in Comfort. Eco sucks, stay away from that.

I dont think this guy even drove it....going from Eco to Sport+, the shifting alone will let you know you are in a different mode...steering wheel is harder to turn and the truck does not sway as much. Throttle response is night and day difference as well.

Even if you dont take advantage of the AVS side, the load leveling option is worth it if you ever tow, even once with it. You will have horrendous squat when towing w/o air bags.

I had a 2024 Platinum which was a lemon, so i have the idea about the driving modes and i definitely could tell the difference.
But it was a regular suspension. Now when i started looking for a new tundra tis one came up and i thought it might be real good, but i saw on this forum some people say that the driving without load is rough, and this guy says whatever he says. I had a suspicion but wanted second opinion which i really appreciate.
Tomorrow i'll put a deposit on it. The dealer gives me $7k off MSRP and agreed to remove some options i do not need which makes additional ~$1K saving.
I dont know if it is good or not, but there is a shortage in Platinums in my area.

 

I waited 14 months ( Canada ) for my 2022 because those were a MUST HAVE. Wait until you ripping down the highway at 80 MPH in Comfort mode and it rides like a Lexus. Get to your destination, put the load in the box ...it auto levels....would not own one with out either

Note: Never ever go in ECO mode

 

I wonder why? What is wrong with it?
My previous one i was driving either 100% ECO when not towing or TOW when towing my trailer or tri-toon.

Do i miss something?

 

ECO saves nothing on fuel, makes the entire HVAC run at 50%, acceleration is like you are towing a wharf down the street.......and you save nothing on fuel. ECO is there for the tree huggers

 

Thanks, i'll try it with my new one. I had a feeling that the A/C is not up to the task, probably it is why.

 

I have the 1794 with the TRD Offroad package. I seriously thought about getting a truck with AVS, but opted for the TRD package. I don't do any serious offroad, mostly fire roads and easy trails. I do miss better suspension on the road, especially cornering! How significant is the difference between the TRD Offroad and AVS?

 

Have you adjusted the AC with a Carista or Tech Stream? Find one, or borrow one, see if the sealer will do it......Change the Temperature Calibration to -2 degrees Under the Heat and AC tab ( Carista). HUGE difference in the AC and I never really noticed any effect on heat ..... And I am Canadian and we use our heaters up here lol Game changer

 

As mentioned above, it is an amazing feature to have.
I chose the AVS over the 3" factory lift and glad that I stuck to my guns.
The Sport+ mode is exceptional, it changes the shift points in the transmission stiffens the steering and suspension.
I would do it again if I decided to upgrade and go with a newer vehicle.

Nope, when i had my 2024 i did not have time to customize anything. In less than 1K miles problems started and car spent most of the first 7 month in the dealership and me on the phone with Toyota HQ to make them to buy it back.

Hopefully next one is going to be luckier, so i'll have time to buy Carista.

 

Post up on the forum...might be some one close that has one. I am in Canada so your shit out of luck with me

Is it still very challenging to find one with AVS?
I've been looking about a year ago and found only one truck with AVS and it was like 15 hour drive from me.

 

I feel your pain. I ordered mine and it took 14 months before one was in my driveway. I held out for the AVS and Self leveling which was the advance pack in the 22 options.

 

I love my 22 1974 with AVS. ‘I have owned it a year and never towed anything yet. I think
my truck is always level. No level kit needed like my 2008. Hauled block twice and pea gravel twice and when you load truck rear end sags way down. Then you start the truck and it magically levels out.

I must have something wrong with my 2025 1794. In comfort mode with AVS, on a bumpy road, the truck absolutely rattles my teeth out. Not sure what to check.

 

Interesting. Mine is the softest ride i've ever had on any vehicle besides French cars.

 

On my new 2025 so far i never felt any need to do this. The A/C so far is very potent. Today was 90F with like 100% humidity and car was very comfortable 3-4 minutes driving after 2 hours being in full sun. So far i canceled the fake engine noise, the blinkers to 5 and the safety belt alarm.
