2024 TRD Performance Package

This is the exhaust tip photo for those that asked. I have the performance package. It was dealer order and I just happened upon it. My comparable experience is from a Capstone I owned a year ago. The torque is certainly more usable and the engine doesn’t run out of steam up high. It is a definite improvement. The torque can be a little lumpy on throttle until you get used to it. I have owned several tuned turbo cars and it goes with the territory.

that would be great. my understanding is that it should have a different cat-back system than the standard trucks. would like to see that. BONUS if you can get audio of the exhaust sound. haha

I ask as the intakes will not work with the older model years but the exhaust should just bolt right up. Trying to decide if I want to go with this or a TWC slip on.

 

That’s where I am at also…since my truck/ECU is apparently “just older” by build date.

Use OBII code reader and get your ECU info to make sure, mine was a 03/1524 build date and mine was programmed.

So the ecu for the 22/23 is so different they can’t do the update for the perf. Package?

So would there be any drawback in doing just the TRD intake and the recalibration? I am not interested in doing the exhaust.

is the tune price fairly consistent also ? i see someone posted around 800US for the tune and the cai ?

 

It is for PPO (Post Production Only) and as of a few weeks ago, all parts were locked down to Port Install Only (and we can assume if something is needed in service).

 

Yeah Toyota has these parts locked behind the "Performance Package" add on to the truck at the port....LAME!

 

Had the truck serviced today, so I stopped over at the Parts Department, Parts manager called someone Toyota Parts Technical or ??, they told her (she had them on speaker) the TRD Performance Pkg could not be sold due to not passing Emissions testing on 24 MY, that is all they would tell her.

 

Now that's funny. The 2024 can certainly have the TRD Performance Package. They started selling them the last month of production.

 

I"ll be honest 469 hp sounds better than 437, I am hoping they get this figured out. I appreciate all you good folks bringing information to the topic.

 

I hear yea, I have it in mine, bust said until emissions part is take care of they are not selling it.

 

So talked to the sales manager, service manager and parts manager today at my dealership about this. Was told “it’s a touchy subject” as they have been instructed by Toyota not to do this on 24’s. It’s a 25 only option right now and they are not to reflash/calibrate with the new program. Well hopefully Toyota get their crap straighten out for us if not I wait for my warranty to run out and then I go after market and get crazy.

 

There is even a "running change" for the 2025 calibration - both Tundra & Sequoia.

2024s that had this installed also have a "running change" calibration.

 

Does anyone know on the 24s if 89663AN28000 is still the most recent calibration? Asking for a friend

running change simply means they developed a better tune based on field reports on performance and drivability concerns and just made the change, started using the new part and kept making trucks
