Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
The can I have is about 10" long. Kind of like a small fire extinguisher. It is marked as bear spray but it it 2% like your human spray. Bought from Bass ProShop.

And why, exactly, should that be?
For a time I did NRA Action Pistol with a DA/SA until I tried a cocked and locked handgun.

If I could get myself to like a Glock, my holster choices would be much more varied.

So they know how to properly and safely know how to handle a firearm.

Police officers have to do it every year.

    It's just common sense.

I've shot competition with some cops.....I wouldn't want to be the "hostage" on those stages.

"Common sense" tends to not mean what you'd think it means these days.

So if you had a kid that just got a driving permit/license, would you just hand them the keys and let them drive away alone?
    Just answer......Yes or No.

Answer is "yes." I can't think of anyone I grew up with still having mom or dad go with them once they got their driver's license.

Odd comparison here.....how many 16 year olds do you know that are hired as school teachers?

So you would let someone drive alone who has never operated a motor vehicle before? I said just got permit/license, not that they took lessons and passed a road test. Do you want to change your answer ?

    None.

Quick example of why having incompetent, undertrained, or underqualified 'professionals' operating in a role where they are meant and expected to potentially use deadly force to defend folks in their care is a really, really bad idea...

    https://lasvegassun.com/news/2017/jan/24/security-guard-who-accidentally-shot-jewelry-store/

    Quick highlight of the article...

"Officers were dispatched about 8:45 p.m. to the store, 1071 W. Sunset Road, near Marks Street, 15 minutes before it was scheduled to close, police said. There they found Kincaid-Hill critically wounded with a gunshot wound to the chest.

She died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center a short while later.

It was determined that the suspect — gun-in-hand — entered the store and that the guard, in an attempt to subdue him, fired his gun, police said. His round missed and struck Kincaid-Hill instead."

I'm not saying that some/certain teachers aren't capable of handling this type of responsibility, but to assume that every teacher is capable of being able to safely and judiciously execute their responsibilites in being 'armed protectors' of children in their care (even w/a considerable amount of training, mental health screening, certifications, and/or passing of qualifications, etc.) is extremely naive.

Yep that's bad.....looks like the state got one thing right: charged the robber with murder. After all, he caused it.

Did the rental cop get Qualified Immunity?

Believing that a yearly qualification, plus all those tests mentioned, will guarantee excellence, is extremely naive. Case in point: the link provided. According to the link, the rental unit was "state certified." So much for "certification."

And "mental health screening," why wouldn't that be done anyway for those trusted with the care of children?

However I accept the fact that many people are frightened by the concept of being armed and they want some sort of assurance that "only the best" can be trusted with the rights God gave them.

In time though, like with concealed carry permits (AKA "the theft of a right then leased back for a time"), the public becomes more trusting. Eventually most states did away with the tax (Constitutional Carry passed).

It's a given to me, and I should have replied with this earlier, that any principal or teacher unable to be trusted with arms should not be in such a position of education.

I called on one locally today. It was priced at 1215.00 slightly used. It was already gone.

    I wouldn't mind ordering one...but 20-25 weeks is nuts.

    Think 25 weeks is bad?

I waited a full 17 years for the most expensive thing I've paid for yet: A WIFE.

If you want it and you have the money for it, order it.

I wish I could order the dump truck I've been looking for but I'm about 36 years too late.

I usually Unass any situation where I'm taking rounds downrange.

    Not my preferred scenario.

I own Sigs and Glocks, and AR's, NV and all manner of kit.

To be honest, a Taurus G2C in .40SW with Federal HPT, I can hit you center mass 15 yards while running.

Don't need a holster, fits in a pair of Levi's.

Wait……you think a world requiring educators to carry firearms in school is normal and sensible?

No QI for the security guard, but I don't believe the victim's family went after him; at least if they did it was never made public... I'm guessing long before that was disclosed (if there was ever a civil suit against the security company) it would be settled and handled out of court :notsure:

I would never expect to guarentee excellence in a critical incident such as an active school shooter, but there's a huge difference between obtaining a 'guard card' and passing a security guard based firearms qual necessary for state certification and conducting a proper selection and extensive training for any teacher that is expected to carry and intervene in the event of an active shooter.

Regarding the mental health screening for teacher and the mental health screening for a teacher that I would trust to operate in an armed role in an active shooter... apples and oranges! Two different levels of screening and vetting. I'm guessing many that would raise a hand and volunteer for that role would find themselves unable to meet standards or simply find themselves realizing the responsibility is more than they bargained for; nothing wrong w/that at all, it's just takes a different mindset and approach to how one views life and things living.

The interesting thing is that you'll sometimes find those that you thought were capable and mentally appropriate for those types of roles aren't, and those that you would have never imagined could be successful actually shine and handle business when the chips are down...

I think for teachers we tend to think of them as nuturing in nature, which is another reason they are so protective over their students... This is a good thing, and I've known many that would do anything for the kids in their care...

Still though, not everyone is cut out to be the one moving toward gunfire in a critical incident and some that want to shouldn't as they can be more of a liability than an asset

Those are nice. But the new Staccato HD gets rid of the 1911 grip safety. For me, that's a plus, YMMV.

Never had an issue with a grip safety in any of my 1911's or XD platforms. Was there an issue with the Staccato grip safety? I have read the SA Platypus grip safety defeats easier but never had an issue either way.

As an expert witness / consultant in the firearms industry ( mostly for firearms function stuff ), it's always amazing how all of this nonsense changes quickly when you're looking at 10 to 15+ years in prison and everything you've worked for out the window.

I'm not gonna chime in on the comments here ( most are gonna easily tack on +5 years to your sentence ), but if you are 100% in the right on a shooting, it may only cost you between $25,000 to $50,000 in legal fees by the time it's all wrapped up. If you're wrong, forget about the civil case coming your way like a train, you got some serious problems. Truth be told, the civil case is coming no matter what. Even if you win, it's still costing you money.

You shoot someone, that 30 second decision will be combed over for no less than 6 months up to 2 years by experts on both sides. Just know that's part of the deal.

A bit more food for thought in that I see this nail people every time:

    1. Performing modifications to the firearm and not having a current armorer's certification. This one really burns people.

    2. Picking a firearm or caliber not commonly used by your local law enforcement ( .50 AE is a prime example ). Seen it, and it didn't turn out well. Rollin' with a 5.7 is also gonna cause some issues, and sweet Moses if you land in front of a jury.

    3. Carrying "specialty" ammo. Burnt like toast with this one.

Whatever you choose, just know that the gun going "bang" is just the start of a very long and difficult process for you and your family.

p.s., there are cameras everywhere, and you're perception of reality is often different that reality on a camera.

    Great info.

So if one is cleared of using force or deadly force in Texas, they can still be sued in civil court?

I don't know all the state laws, and I'm not an attorney. My only point in all of this is to shine a light on what happens after "bang." I'm involved in these cases and I've personally witnessed good, solid people make one small slip in judgement and have their lives ripped apart. This not a game, and not everyone in these waters play fair. In fact, very few do. It's ugly and it shatters lives. That first night in jail changes many people forever.

If the Rust shooting didn't get your attention and you carry a gun, it should. There is a lot to that story and it sent waves through my world. Words like "should, could, might, maybe" get very expensive to pin down when someone is shot.

This is all only my opinion based on experience in directly dealing with this topic. Some here may have more experience than I do, and by all means please chime in. More information is always beneficial. I've watched more than a few dudes with tattoos and beards and schmedium Punisher t-shirts, and lifted trucks, and TRT veins on their neck bulging as they cry their eyes our because the blasted a kid who was doing something stupid. Justified, sometimes. In reality, they are crying because they know they are "f'd." It sinks in like a fog, and it doesn't dissipate for years, and for some it never does. Either they spend time in prison or they walk around knowing they took a life. That cloud sticks to them forever; I've seen it, I've spent time with them. The grief is immense.

There is also that little gremlin called vengeance. It's out there. Helped with a case where a guy dusted up a MS13 dude. Wanna guess how that is going for him 10 years later? Not well.

Leave the house carrying a gun, you've put more chips down on the table than you can imagine. Just keep that in mind.

Carrying a gun is a personal choice, and I'm not trying to sway anyone in any direction. Just like you guys have been very generous in sharing all of your truck knowledge with a newbie like me, I wanted to share some of my knowledge about this world with you.

Years ago when active shooter was all the rage, my department put a bunch of us through a tactical EMS course. They used a few of us as the "threat" during scenarios, and I had an opportunity to hole myself up in a bathroom at the end of a hallway with a Glock full of sim rounds. The cops came storming down the hallway shooting at me, I shot back at them. They got me good, I emptied a magazine and maybe scored two hits. At the range I'm a capable shooter...

Point being, it was an absolute eye opening experience for how much more difficult it is to shoot accurately in a stressful situation, and this is one I knew was coming and was in no real danger at any time during the event.

To answer OPs question, I carry a P220 legion 10mm (8+1) when out in the wild camping and animal threats exist. Generally don't carry day to day.
