I am an insurance agent in Colorado. Does the police report show the other party's insurance information? Does it show the other party at fault? If it does you can file a claim directly with their insurance company. If the police report shows the other party at fault and you file a claim with your company, your rates should not increase. The corner of the cab is a fairly involved repair. The door and the bed side, not that difficult.

They wrote a quick estimate. The body shop will definitely have a supplement for additional damage.

Carpart.com you could most likely find a used door and a complete bed for less than 1000 in the same trim/color. Get a cab corner cut off a parts truck pay bodyshop to replace and paint cab corner, all the rest is bolt on. Done similar repairs on many a vehicle. If the frame was bent it's a different story. Why waste a good truck.

Yep that's the one. Forgot the dash...... Also I've bought some parts on FB marketplace, my buddy got a mint bed there for 600.

We got the police report early last week. It shows the person at fault has no insurance. So its going through my carrier. I have a smaller shop that will be doing the repairs rather than the Ins Cos recommendation. The reason for that is the smaller shop seems easier to work with.

And then insurance companies got wise to this and started “offering” underinsured/uninsured motorists coverage. You know, instead of covering that sort of thing anyway…

I dropped the truck off on Wednesday morning. On Wednesday evening Im coming home from the store and my Volvo 240 gets rear ended by a 2003 Tacoma. Its still drivable but its not worth fixing. Can't make this shit up if I wanted to. I'm learning more about the insurance and body repair business than I really wanted to this year.

How did your Tundra repair end up? I stumbled upon this forum after almost the exact hit on mine a couple weeks ago. No frame damage. I'm 50/50 repair vs scrap.IMG_4914.jpg

Does the other party have any assets you can sue them for?

I was at the beach and a buddy's tire caught my open door hyper stretching the hinge. Carfax called that "structural damage" lol. I only found out because I played the potential trade-in card with a dealer. Man, I called CarFaux up and told them I was sending the body work breakdown sheet to them to clarify and they changed it from structural damage to something less, but it still cost me value.

Always wondered how a private company can swoop in and arbitrarily become the end all be all for dealerships to screw people over by.

My Tundra was repaired, for the most part it is close to the condition it was before. I have put a bunch of miles on it. Re: Heartwheels truck, your truck looks repairable to me. Mine was about 11K all in. But it was a hassle and a half and took about a month.

How many miles on the truck? I don’t think it’s totaled if the airbags didn’t go off…

They repaired mine. Good as new. My frame was bent slightly, but they pulled it back within spec

please tell me what in the world happened in that first pic. Looks like those 2 cars were competing to hit your truck.

Ok correct me if I’m wrong here but, but it Looks like the tundra was just minding its own business after a long day of work and got jumped.
