To what? The balancer? Yea lighter balancer less rotational mass for the engine to turn. Moarr powaa. Better quality balancer etc. This isn’t new tech by any means. Used lots of light weight ati balancers in other platforms

    :bananadead:

I feel your pain. Kinda. My truck has been on the lift at my buddies shop since Thursday. Speedmaster, sequoia tcase, and brake job.

Bearings that were “on the shelf” around town suddenly were not. Ordered 2 day shipping, stalled over the weekend I guess because of the holiday. Bearings showed up today but now the driveshaft is still MIA. Machine shop had it on the schedule for Monday but the driveline guy was out sick for a few days. Couldn’t get anybody on the phone (but honestly my phone has been dropping calls, not sending texts, fake sending emails, all week) so I drove to the next town over to see if the place had burned down. Luckily not, but they said they’d get to it tomorrow. Hopefully… Oh well. Just glad it’s not for major work like you’ve had to do.

Unfortunately for my buddy, my truck has been taking up his lift for that whole time. The other two projects he has in the shop are long-term - a tubbed Chevelle full race car and a 68 chevy half ton LSX(?) swapped preparing for short bed conversion and notched frame - so I’m taking up all the other bandwidth. He’s been super cool about it, though.

Stuff happens, I'll get it back when I get it back, just sucks because it's also holding up getting the other motor.

    0 well.

So last week when I put in a spare truck ECU (since old one was bricked) I got a P0441 evap purge flow error immediately. I thought maybe it was my locking gas cap so I switched to the OEM one, still have an new pending error everytime I drive after 15 mins or so. Truck drives fine. Checked everything even took the purge valve off and tested with a direct battery and it seems fine. I looked up the vin for my junkyard ecu and its same part number and model year but is a 4x2. Wonder if the software on it is slightly different for some stuff.

I may put the old unbricked ECU back in (once unbricked) to test. I have OEM gas cap and purge valve coming in the mail too, no harm with having extras I guess. Will be interesting if you need to be careful with spare ecus even if the part numbers are the same!

Theoretically, right 180 amp Denso out for delivery from Rock Auto, paid 17 bucks for next day, still ended up less than NAPA.

Okay all you brainiacs. I've searched, I've watched videos, I've read more forums, threads, posts and reddits than I care to admit. I believe I trust the below AI response. If I'm misguided in my decision, please enlighten me because I'll be damned if I've seen anything even remotely conclusive. I have read about the 1-2 shifts being more DD friendly with the Level 10, but then just as quickly there's the same number of people saying IPT is the tits. Is there a right/wrong answer between the two options for just a VB upgrade and shift kit? I'm leaning towards Level 10 based solely on the mentioned DD aspects.

    AI Overview
    Learn more
When comparing a Level 10 valve body upgrade to an IPT valve body upgrade, both are considered reputable options for transmission performance improvements, but Level 10 generally receives praise for offering a more refined and crisper shifting experience, potentially making it the better choice for those seeking a more noticeable performance upgrade; however, IPT may be a more budget-friendly option depending on specific needs and vehicle type.
    Key points to consider:
    • Shift Quality:
Many users report that Level 10 valve bodies provide noticeably sharper and quicker shifts compared to IPT upgrades.
    • Reputation:
Both companies are well-known in the performance transmission market, but Level 10 is often cited as having a stronger reputation for high-quality valve body upgrades.
    • Cost:
IPT valve bodies may be slightly more affordable than Level 10 options depending on the specific application.

Not even there yet, and honestly, being as deep as I am at this point, a few hundred isn't going to kill me. I have actually been reminded of the Australian company being discussed with some rather informational videos a month or two ago. I guess I need to bring them into the fold.

Back to the drawing board I guess.

I have not dealt with IPT so I cannot comment on any aspect of the experience with them.

I did however buy a Level10 Trans with upgraded VB and all the works. I'm happy with my choice, even though I had a wild ride to get to the finish line. I was a statistic, so take that all with a grain of salt. I'd expect a smooth experience working with them. I'd say the customer service is nothing short of amazing. That alone is worth it IMO. They will do everything, regardless of cost, to make sure you're happy with it and stand behind their work.

That being said, who knows, maybe IPT would do the same. But I don't have that info

You'll see different experiences with both level 10 and IPT valve body shifting. Some have the 1-2 hard shift while others don't. My valve body from IPT is not harsh while I've heard others do. I spoke with several people with IPT Transmissions with no harsh, just firm 1-2 shifting.

Installed three IPT valve bodies now, two felt fine, one was pretty aggressive 1-2 shift but it was also a 2008 truck so maybe it being more worn reacted differently for whatever reason.

I'd be curious to know if the 2008 tune was devoid of shift pressure tabs? As you well know, some trucks like my '13 don't have the option to adjust shift pressures through HPT and has to be dealt with elsewhere in the tune. Comparing my vehicles with the same motor and transmission, the '13 always had a firmer shift through all the gears and 1-2 felt clunky at times on a completely stock setup, almost like a mild shift kit on an older 4l60 or C6. My other vehicles have a smoother shift throughout.

I used the existing dyno numbers from @TurboKits of 520WHP and said I'll likely be closer to 650-700WHP with the built motor. This was their response. Comforting since I'll realistically be limiting it to ~600WHP, which should be more than plenty for 99% of the time. Hope this helps others with ballpark numbers out of the Extreme kit option.

"We can provide an Extreme valve body upgrade, which will carry the functionality offered by the Sonnax kit and boost line pressures as well.
But do note you will be pushing it to its limit with the power you are planning to push through it.

The shifts will be cleaner, slightly firm in your instance but not aggressive or violent."

Them saying it won't be violent on the shifts makes me feel better, especially after reading their description online. But, yeah, still gotta leave things on the table. At least there's a ballpark number to stay south of. Better than finding it the hard way.

I spoke to them as well awhile back. They don't really do anything internally to the trans/TQ convertor just valve body.

    Good copy.

The VB only decision was made a few months ago based on your research, actually. Which shop and when were TBD.

VB only is so much cheaper and those numbers they addressed are plenty for the cost. IMO, not a bad value once the core is returned.
