    Hi all!

My first post so I'm not even sure I'm doing this right. I got my '22 Limited about 6 months ago. I had only ever test driven the SR and SR5 versions and then decided I wanted some extras like memory seating, panoramic sun roof, etc.

One part I was disappointed to see changed for the Limited was the upper part of the passenger dash above the glove box. On the lower trims there is a flat cut out where you could put something like a phone down in front of you or something like that. The Limited is completely rounded over.

Does anyone know if these can be traded freely or is there something like an airbag there making the switch impossible. I got 2 part numbers from the local dealership and honestly I'm not sure what the difference is but one is about $100 cheaper. Does anyone here know the difference? (Part numbers below). Thanks in advance!

Yea I wonder why they did that. The sr5 lower part is just a hard plastic piece. I believe the upper trims are padded, so it would not match the rest of your dash.

You're asking if it's possible to do an expensive down-grade on an otherwise brand new vehicle, so you have a place to put your cell phone/catch-all?

@Notarobot Heh well when you put it that way... I just like the look better but I suppose if its hard plastic like @firehawk003 says, it WOULD be quite the eyesore.

Certainly not myself. It's not my money or property. Pointing out the obvious trim downgrade doesn't make me a "negative nancy". It's merely a second opinion. The OP is an adult and will ultimately make their own decisions.

As long has you don't have a hybrid, you should be able to do it.

Do you have a list of all the parts, others may want to do the same.

I don't think it's possible due to the flux capacitor behind it.

Honestly though I wondered the same thing lol

I believe it's doable, you'd just have to change the trim panel that goes across the dash and add in the little pocket which is two pieces. But the SR5 panel is also different material, so would have to change the panel on the left side steering wheel under the vent too if you want it to match.

I never understood why the SR5 has the Limited Non-Hybrid doesn't. I assume it's because they don't want to have both a Hybrid & Non-Hybrid dash within the same trim level. I like the cubby. I keep a set of folding binoculars in there plus a few other handy things.

Did you ever try the swap? I've been wondering this myself. Didn't realize the materials were different, as I haven't been in the SR5.

    Anyone done this?

Out of curiosity I was looking into it myself. My RAV4 has the shelf and my wife loves it and our Tundra is the road trip vehicle. Sparks Toyota confirmed this assembly fit my VIN, CO is the trim color black. My Limited has a slight padding on the dash above the glovebox, whereas the lower half has harder plastic. Platinums and above look like they have even more padding, so I’m curious if this will match for Limited’s at least. Sparks is $362 shipped and my local dealership $452.

Has anyone done it? Sparks said everything in figure 11 is included.

I never did end up doing this. Ive had the dash off for several reasons over the years and I never found anything back there that says it can’t be done. Someone may want to post the sr5 piece part number to the left of the steering wheel too so the materials match.

Wonder what's different about the materials?
Maybe one padded & one plastic?
The ones on my limited are plastic.

Even it it didn’t exactly match the left side of the steering wheel is pretty minimal. It’s hard to even see it all from the driver’s seat at the same time

SR5 here. The material is plastic. I wish it were the soft touch, but the shelf is definitely nice. Wife keeps her sunglasses there.

Hard plastic matching the glove compartment texture, or a little softer than the outside of the glovebox?

It's hard plastic with the same texturing as the glovebox.
