Hello everyone! I have been following tundras.com since I purchased my 2022 tundra SR5 in Lunar rock with the TRD off road package. I just wanted to share my experience so far. One of them is I recently finished a road trip down to Mexico. In total it was a 5K mile round trip from Chicago to Mexico. My Tundra was awesome on this road trip. It consisted of driving on flat roads, up and down mountains, freezing cold, hot weather and rain. I did this trip with about 500 lbs of cargo there and back. I know alot of people don't like the new engine on the tundras. But the truck was a beast! Great for overtaking, instant power when I needed it. I have owned a few V8s and let me tell yall this new power train on these tundras is awesome. I have about 31k miles on mine and yes it is part of the recall. Overall I think it has been a great truck to own. Also the adaptive cruise control was awesome on this trip along with the steering and lane assist. My truck is completely stock too.

Love mine for road trips too. First vehicle I've had that doesn't hurt my back. It is only about 500 miles to visit the kid at school and the Tundra makes that easy and comfortable.

He probably meant New Mexico. Nobody drives their own vehicle to Mexico on purpose

Where do you reside? Just curious…
People around here drive to Puerto Peñasco (aka Rocky Point) all the time and live to tell the story. Condos on the beach just like any other tourist destination…

I thought the same. Then realized Philadelphia has more killings each day then some dangerous towns in Mexico. Same for Chicago. I.e. trying to move my ass out of here

Glad you enjoyed your road trip. My wife, 2 dogs, and I road trip from Colorado to Florida, and back, usually 2 times a year. Overall, our Gen 3 has made those trips comfortable.

I'm surprised you like the lane centering feature, however. Mine pinballs back and forth way too much for me. I can easily steer a straighter line myself, and since I have to keep a hand on the wheel anyway, I don't see any purpose for lane centering.

@Kap1 that thought crossed my mind a couple of times but if it did at least most of the drive is in the states and Mexico has tons of toyota dealerships. The nearest toyota dealership is a 20min drive from my home down there.

@Woocawachie I feel safer down in Mexico than here in Chicago most of the time.

Not if you jam a water bottle in the steering wheel corner. It thinks it’s a hand lol. Still very dangerous, it’s not a Tesla. I just tried it for sh*ts and giggles

I've heard of guys using a spring clamp to fool the system, as well.

But that doesn't change the fact that Lane Centering makes the truck feel like a drunk is behind the wheel. The first time I used it was on a long road trip. It caused my wife to wake from a nap and ask me "why are you swerving so much?" And, yes, I've played with the different sensitivity settings with the same shitty results.

Can’t say I have the same issue, this is my 2nd tundra, both 2023, and it kept it in the center of the lane without ping ponging between lanes. Not sure if it’s the settings or the calibration of the radar.

Yeah, some guys swear their trucks don't ping pong, but I'm not convinced. I mentioned it to my salesperson when I was having the transmission recall done. He let me take a new one out to see if it was the same, and it was.
