Another Monday, another trip to Tupelo in the FGT. Alright, these ditch pod lights I bought pretty much just suck. Poor light output. I’ve had good luck with Nilight products in general, light bars and such. These just suck. Guess I’ll throw them on the party barge for docking lights. Not spending $400 a pair for pod lights, but I’ll probably step up to a set of Auxbeams.

Shocks also seem to be worn out, or underperforming at best. I’m sure the E rated meats aren’t helping. Considering OME or Eibach Pros for my next set.

No, everything but. These 5100s have been on the front for 55k miles (second set) or so and the rears closer to 110k (still on the first set).

Setting up some dashboards in OBD Fusion for towing the camper. Still playing around with it. Crazy how low the transmission fluid temp stays when driving. Must not have a thermostat, or it’s wide open all the time for some reason.

Is the temp based upon a formula or is it a direct temp sensor measurement? If it’s based upon a formula, maybe you can manipulate/view the actual measured data to see how it responds?

It’s actual temp from the sensor. To be fair, it’s 21° outside

I think it’s wide open and the cooler works that well. I had a hell of a time getting mine to temp when doing the fluid level check; fluid level check for the 4r w/o cooler took maybe 15 minutes to get to temp

Yeah even on long trips in the summer, I never seen mine above 165°F.

Highest I saw my Tacoma with same transmission was like 215°F when I towed a trailer with concrete culverts for like an hour.

    You too?

Yep, if you look in the owners manual, there’s a light on the dash for it and it’s not an optional accessory. I only found out 10 years after I bought it new.

You’d know if you use your washer fluid and it lit up on the dash when it got low. My guess is no.

Yall let your wiper fluid get low? My fuel light has only come on once, and that was on purpose.

I can easily go through two gallons of it during the winter here. The past few winters it’s been mild so not so much.

I meant to ask if rain-x would make cleaning ice off the windshield easier. Last time i had to scrape it with a gas card or something & decided it wasnt worth the hassle, so i just stayed home.

Some supposedly do, but I've never seen anyone with one. I believe it's built into the housing, and if you don't have it, you just have a 2-wire lead plugging directly to the plastic jug.

Went to the farm and loaded up firewood yesterday. Cypress! Been burning a lot at the house. Had to back down the dry creek to get up next to the pile. (If you haven’t discovered electric chainsaws yet, you are missing out. I was a hater for a long time, but you can store them inside your nice vehicles, they’re good enough for small jobs, and you aren’t always messing with a finicky small engine the first time you need it after sitting a while. I have gas saws too, but for little jobs, I really love this little Ryobi one I picked up.)

This is enough for the recreational fires we burn in the mornings.

No pops or squeaks driving up out of the creek and rode like a champ on the way home.

You can store them in your vehicle, just be aware: Some of them, like the Homelight I've got (10" or 12" or 14", pretty small), can leak bar & chain oil all over the damn place. Found this out the hard way.

The translucent oil reservoir on my unit has a slit in it, and the cap to the reservoir is a black rubber bulb. When you need oil on the chain, depress the bulb, the extra pressure pushes oil out the slit in the reservoir.

Problem is, when that rubber bulb eventually cracks, you lose the seal on the reservoir, and oil naturally dribbles out the slit. It's ultimately a poor design, and a replacement reservoir+bulbcap is only $8 or something, but ... I didn't find out before it stained my garage floor with bar & chain oil.

But honestly, I haven't used my gas chainsaw in 2 years now, and maybe half a dozen times in the last 10, only when I'm somewhere there's no power outlet or my target is larger than 20" diameter. The electric is too damn convenient!

That's ultimately what I did too. I had a cheap heavy rubber door mat in the garage to wipe our feet off. I bought a better one for the door, and keep the chainsaw on the cheapie. Its rubber is warped to hell at this point from oil getting into it, but whatever.
