    Jbl or non jbl?
Just plan on replacing everything. Start off with a good head unit (I run a Kenwood 1037s) 6.5" components for the front and a set of coax for the rear. Just bypass the factory amp.

Want some bump, add a 5ch amp and a shallow sub and box for behind the rear seats. I run 2 jl 10tw3's

Might as well do some sound deadening while your at it.....it's a rabbit hole.
If you have some time I've got a lot of pictures on my build log (link in my signature).

I'd recommend reaching out to James at tech12volt....many people including myself have been really happy with him. (Search around here for reviews)
I believe his email is twch12volt@gmail.com
Give him what you are looking for and your budget and he will get you setup. He has a website as well but he sells a lot more stuff than what's listed.

https://www.mtiacoustics.net/ and Gatelyaudio.com are probably the best subwoofer boxes but not cheap. Just depends on what you want to run and like. First would be add wireless apple CarPlay. Head unit, speakers and sub. You can fit 8’s in the doors if you really want to go big.

For 2500 you should be able to do a head unit, 5ch amp, door speakers and a sub.

Personally I'd start with head unit as wireless AA/Carplay is a must have (for me at least).

That’s a good idea, wanted to throw it out there to get some up to date advise. It seems like when people first install something it’s the best but then as time goes by there’s some little quirks that might sway your decision on a product , thus the new thread

    1. Start with head unit
I would go with the sony 9500es
You might be happy with just that change
    $999 crutchfield

    After that
2 add a subwoofer and soundbox on ebay can be had for around $150
For 12 inch subs. The pioneer shallow mount sub works well in that box. Subs on Amazon $107 each
Any basic sub amp can be had for less than $200
    Ct sounds 1500.1 mono amp

See how that works for you

If you want to keep going
    3. Add a 4 channel amp and replace the door speakers

Most people will be fine just changing out the head unit and adding a subwoofer
