I don’t know this guy from Adam, but I do know what type of commitment it takes to go out on your own without a safety net and try to make a living, providing for a family.

You can’t know your limitations until you find them; you can’t find them until you fail. When you have the world on your shoulders, small missteps can have catastrophic results - whether those missteps are your own feet stumbling or life kicking you in the teeth. It’s much easier for people to complain about your failures than help you grow from them.

I don’t disagree. Small businessmen have to wear many hats. Most folks are used to specializing in one or two things and collecting a check every two weeks for being a George Jetson. Most have know idea how many new skills a sole proprietor/small business owner has to acquire in rapid fashion just to make it work. Yet, despite working the jobs of 17 different people, they still only get paid for the one skill that they are selling - exhausts in the case of this guy. You are one of the few that do. You also have experience to help reign in your limits.

Life happens. The only constant in life is change. People lose their jobs, people get sick, life circumstances can change in heartbeat. Folks less experienced at life don’t comprehend this concept, nor do they understand the importance of people and family over things and money.

I’ve personally been on my deathbed (unknowingly) and lost family members while dealing with customers that didn’t give a flying rats fart what was going on; all they cared about was the dollar bills they were spending (not even paid for yet), thinking those dollar bills entitled them to emotionally abuse any and all persons involved in their temporal gratifications.

I literally worked myself to the brink of death because of the emotional attachment people have to their precious monies. Instead of tapping out and acknowledging something was wrong, I pushed and pushed and pushed because obviously the problem was me and my poor work ethic - I was only working 80-100 hours a week and still living paycheck to paycheck. People were upset that their custom work wasn’t flying off my workbench in a day or two. I needed to work harder… So I tried, and ended up in and out of sepsis every couple of weeks for a year before almost succumbing to meningitis.

Nobody cared because their money entitled them to dictate my life, no matter the repercussions for me. You should have heard the things people said about me while I was days from death.

‘Tough it out’. ‘All the guy needs to do is this…’ ‘people shouldn’t take money for a job they can’t complete’. Cop outs for impatient entitlement.

    Sorry for the rant.

very weird rant. Then don’t say 2-4 weeks. Say “Im hoping for 2-4 weeks, but could be up to 6 months because I have other obligations.” And if things happen that cause you to not be able to deliver, just return the “precious monies.” Pretty simple concept. More about the reality of what happened rather than the emotions and sensitivity of the way things feel.

I come from a third world country - family had no money when we got here. Joined the U.S Army. Medically retired after an injury in Afghanistan. Most of my right leg is artificial. I now own a construction company and understand the demands of the consumer.
So yes, I think I’m aware of a business situation that is not proper.

That video is wild. I wonder if he knows that he can be sued from small claims in the buyer's jurisdiction?

Every day I am more and more thankful that I paid (1) with a credit card and (2) with goods and services.

Did a quick check, doesn't look like his business name is registered as an LLC in Texas, nor as a taxable entity with the state comptroller. Wonder if he pays his taxes....

Shitty way to do business. And this is coming from someone who is actually happy with the exhaust.

Looks like I’m flipping to HKS as there’s no way I’ll continue to support a company/individual who acts like this to customers

I was looking for a response from him too ha. But, I doubt he will respond anymore - his rant was actually completely ridiculous. He seems way too similar to the guy. There’s no way he really doesn’t know him and would take the time to write that nonsense he wrote.
