Block Heater

My block heater has stopped working. What fuse should I check? Going to get real cold tonight.

 

Your block heater is not externally powered? I thought they all plugged in to an external AC power source.

Ok that makes sense, block heater could be dead then.

 

Was it an added feature? Or aftermarket?
Ive had oem block heater on previous toyota, and you have to always plug it into the house outlet to keep it going.
What make you think it’s dead? I’m curious.

 

Aftermarket heater. When I plug it in I hear silence. Also seem like the truck should start up more chipper then it does. Are you suppose to get some warm air if left on all night?

 

You should be able to feel a little warm, not much, on the engine block. But not warm air. It’s not supposed to heat up the coolant to normal working temp. At least that’s in my experience. i would follow your cord and see where the heating element is mounted to the block. If you are able to access it, carefully wave your hand over it. See if you can feel some heat?
Otherwise, coloradotj said, element/cord took a dump.

 

How do I replace the element in the cord?

 

If the element is bad you have to replace the entire unit.
