    Good day all,

I have a 2010 Tundra regular cab trd offroad with a 4.6L 1URFE, wondering what it would take in order to swap it out for a 4.7L 2UZFE as a good 1URFE is super hard to find in my area. Thanks in advance.

It would take a lot. 2 different engine families. Wiring harness, computers, possibly bell housing and motor mount differences. I’ve never seen one on here so we haven’t been exposed to the pain yet. I say go for it and chronicle the adventure here so we know to warn others in the future.

I'll just get a rather expensive 1URFE to do the job right.

Probably easier and cheaper to swap in a 3ur than a 2uz... the 1ur and 3ur are basically identical in most ways other than displacement. Might even be a direct swap with computer swap or reflash.

Not sure that’s as direct as it sounds either. The 4.6 and 5.7 use different rear ends too.

To start off with, you would lose about 30 hp going from the 4.6 to the 4.7. As others have said, going with a 5.7 would seem to be much easier being that both 4.6 and 5.7 share the same basic engine platform (block, etc.).

Thank you all for the replies! I was looking into a 3UR for a while. However, between my dad and myself I tracked down a 1UR replacement in my price range. Going to stick with what it had! Thanks!
