Has anyone seen this before? This is the bottom end of the passenger side that is split. They are Toytec Alumas with about 60K miles on them. I saw it when I was replacing the SPC ball joints. @memario1214 any thoughts?

Better pics. Sent them over to Toytec today and they will take a look at them.

Is that part of the aluminum lower coil pocket? Or just the bushing itself?

If you’re talking about this part outlined in green, I think that’s a built in jounce bumper.

Im not the authority on Toytec shocks, so I’ll defer that to an expert, but many shocks have these jounce bumper on the shock body to prevent bottoming the shock out and ruining the internal seals. It looks like a jounce bumper to me. If they sell the parts to rehab these shocks, you can likely buy a new one and rebuild the shock with it. How old are these? 60k miles is a middle of the pack run for a shock. Most won’t live past 80k anyway. Might be time to replace or upgrade.

Let us know if you hear anything back. They just got sold again and supposedly the new owners are trying to fix all the order issues from the last year. Hopefully they can keep it afloat as I liked doing business with them before they sold to the last owners.

@Tundra234 Apologies for not seeing this earlier when I was tagged initially!

I was going to say exactly this. I wouldn't suspect much in the way of support from the Toytec folks for a minute.

If you need to just replace that jounce bumper your best bet is to contact Elka directly.

They just emailed back and said It's just a bump stop so you can remove it since the truck has bump stops on it.

That's true, you could add a Perry part bump/Duro bump as an upgrade.

While "true" that the truck has bumpstops, I can't say I completely buy that pulling them is just fine. My thought is why would Elka spend the money on it if there were no need? :notsure: I don't know any of the dimensions of those particular shocks, but there's a chance that the collapsed length of the shocks currently on the truck are longer than full engagement point of the OE bumpstop which would mean that your OEM bumpstops wouldn't have been making contact since you put on those shocks. However, if what I proposed were true, and you pulled that inline bump, you would be bottoming out the shock on every up-stroke. In a perfect world, the OE bumpstop and in-line bumpstop would reach full compression at the exact same point (both of which are before the shock bottoms out), but I find that REEEAAAALLLLYYYY hard to believe .

It could be perfectly fine, but just playing devil's advocate

There's only a handful of employees (11) left, but they're trying to make things right. A couple of the old Toytec folks are involved again. I spoke to them yesterday and they understand a lot of people think they suck.

I hope it works out and things go back to the way it was before DPI ran them into the ground.
