Jeff from Houston joining and first post. Long time Toyota fan and owner...since 1987!! Had a Tacoma for 16 years and put on 250K. Bought it used 2 years old for 18K and sold it for 5K!

Last month bought a new 2024 2WD Tundra with lots of addons. Got 16.75% off MSRP and 1.99% financing. Silver with black step bars. I added WeatherTech stone and bug guard, front window rain guards and front/back seat floor liners. I am also a fan of WeatherTech!

Bed cover is next...maybe the Roll N Lock retractable. Look pricy but hearing great reviews about them. Let me know what you think...

Nice truck! I’ve had several styles of bed covers on first and second gen Tundras. The one thing I don’t like about the retractable is the space it requires inside the bed. The housing that holds the cover when in the rolled up position uses cargo space in an already short bed. May or may not be an issue depending on your usage.

The more expensive hard tops are nice compared to soft. I’ve had both. Only downside I see to the hard tops are cost. I’ve had some nice soft roll ups and they are great. Just not as durable or secure

I’ve settled on the hard top trifold as my preference for the way I use my truck.

    Oooohh, nice color.

Silver paint used to just be kinda' "Meh" to me, but the depth of the silvers they have now is amazing. Like liquid Mercury.

That's pretty much the same thought process I went through when deciding on my tonneau. Retractable would've been easier since I need to run racks for my surfboards, SUP's, etc. but I didn't want to lose bed space to the cannister.
It's all kind of a trade off and I just kept landing on the tri-fold.
Found a rack system that works with tri-folds and it's working out very well.

Welcome Jeff! I've had multiple Tundras and multiple bed covers. Originally had a hardtop under cover and hated having to plan ahead if I was going to buy anything that may stick up over the bed. But the bonus was the bed was dry if it was on when it rained.

Next truck had a Roll 'n Lock - the electric one. It was cool but I'd constantly have to reset it because it would trip. This was many years ago so maybe they fixed it. Also wasn't water tight.

Next truck had a backflip and I hated that thing. It didn't completely seal and if you wanted to haul anything, it flipped up to the rear window and you lost a lot of visibility.

2017 Pro had the Retrax Pro Mx (I think) - I chose it because most of the rolling covers have a strap that runs down the center to pull it shut. The Retrax lock turns into a handle and is on the drivers side so you can open and shut it with it. It's not water tight but I liked it a lot. It's nice because you can shut it in any position.

The 2020 Pro has the Retrax Pro XR with the t-slot rails. I really have no complaints about it. I see now there's a bluetooth Retrax that you can operate with your phone... Fancy.

    Anyways, welcome from Central Texas!
