HU upgrade to JBL

Trying to upgrade my HU on my 2018 Tundra SR5 to a JBL HU, does any knows who might sell the wire hardness?
Is it even worth it to go that route?

 

not worth it....JBL sucks as well.

Id go aftermarket rather than spend coin trying to make the stock stuff sound better. Sound will be better and it will probably cost less.....and have more features.

 

AutoHarnessHouse.come sells the Entune 2.0 to Entune 3.0 harnesses, link here: Entune 3.0 Install kit for Toyota vehicles - Add Carplay All totaled it's about $125-$200 for the required wiring depending on what you need, plus the cost of the newer OEM head unit which can be had on Ebay for ~$300-$400. That said, you do not want to get a JBL head unit because then you'd need the JBL amp as well, and the JBL amp has different specs that match the JBL speakers.

All totaled to go to an Entune 3.0 OEM head unit you're probably looking at ~$400-$500. If you get an aftermarket head unit, you can get a ~7" touch screen same size as OEM, wired (and possibly wireless) Carplay/Android Auto for around the same price when you factor in the required wiring and extra parts like an iDatalink Maestro RR for steering wheel controls. I'd recommend going that route for a few reasons. 1) Aftermarket head unit will have more options/features. 2) Aftermarket can be swapped into a future vehicle. 3) Maestro RR, while semi-expensive, can be "flashed" for nearly any vehicle, meaning if you sell your truck in a few years, or if something super unfortunate like the engine grenading or someone totaling your truck happens, you can pull the aftermarket head unit and move it into your next vehicle.

So, I wont be able to use the same speakers without the amp?

 

There are 2 versions of head unit that have carplay/android auto for 2020/2021 Tundras, JBL, and non-JBL. If you get the 2020/2021 non-JBL one you will be fine, just need to get the appropriate wiring adapters I linked above. The JBL one doesn't offer any additional features, it's just wired differently and interacts/needs to be paired with the JBL amp/speakers, they're all basically paired together and need to be used together since the JBL amp does fader and volume controls for the JBL head unit, and the JBL speakers have different power handling than non-JBL.

I agree with @PlatinumPro the stock stereo isn't the worst, but unless you're absolutely set on keeping a volume knob and the factory buttons, aftermarket for the same price as the 2020/2021 non-JBL OEM head unit will get you more features and future expansion options.

Whenever I install a new radio/speakers, I wrap up the old ones in paper towels, throw them in zip lock bags, and put em in a box/plastic tote. Keep em somewhere relatively dry/cool like a basement or closet, and then if/when I go to sell, I pull my aftermarket gear and put back in the stock stuff because buyers/dealers typically want stock and don't care about aftermarket radios/speakers.

 

I think beatsonic sells an amp that lets you keep all your OEM equipment. It got good reviews on Reddit a while back.

 

You can keep your speakers swapping from entune 2.0 to 3.0 so long as you’re going non-jbl to non-jbl or jbl to jbl, just can’t go from on to the other.

 

Thank you all for the advise. It is much appreciated, I did not see myself embark into an endless project of swapping speakers and so on. that being said, do you know who might be selling a HU OEM with apple car play non JBL
