Used FGT Prices goin up

No surprise and cant prove it but I get the feeling this guys a speculator...er, a licensed used car dealer.
But really, same truck as mine w/shell and metal trim wheelwells..I paid just under 10k last May w/170k mi.

Yeah, it's whatever someone is willing to pay. For a RWD if all things check out, I think it's a fair price. People are paying upwards of 15K for low(ish) mileage 4WD rust free examples. Ask me how I know.

 

Seems decently priced to me. Especially considering the location.

 

btw, CL SanDiego has 2 or 3 other FGT ADs by what 'looks' like same person; ADs a look same style and prefaced as 'autotrader-private party'...

 

The price of mine goes up every day. It doesnt have a screen or connect to the internet, no subscriptions for the options, the engine doesnt grenade, and it takes cheap gas. It might not look like a squarebody, but its not covered in plastic ‘scoops’. The v8 noise, real LSD, and cheap insurance are just bonuses.

 

Power door locks?

 

Unfortunately, it has power windows & seats, too. Everytime i look at the ‘limited’ badge, i picture a cripple. But, i’m hunting JY’s for manual doors & a RC non-split bench all the time. i’ve got 30k until the timing belt is due, but i’m just looking for an excuse to swap in a diesel (mostly because it’ll force me to have more diesel equipment). Otherwise i want a 9:1 ford cleveland stroker & a 7.3 zf 5spd.

I can handle lady tires, bit if i wanted a lady motor i’d have a v6.

 

A 2UZ will save your man card - but pulling it out for a Ford powertrain might earn you a 72 hour psych hold.

Save your 2UZ for me - I want one in a boat.

 

Thing is... even if I got $20,000, there is nothing comparable I could replace it with for that much (that little).

 

the gettin is good before it dies. I’ve got a tall deck 2 bolt cleveland daring me to throw fuel at it. Its relatively light, good new heads are available, and it’ll be a cheap path for carbby 250hp (plus my solid axles are likely coming from a ford). Once i get up to 6k ft elevation, a twist of a screwdriver would have me right as rain. And it could survive an EMP if im running points.

 

Agreed. $20,000 would just get me a nice down payment and a monthly car note.

 

On an unrelated note, I'll sell my truck for $23k.

 

You can keep all the carbs. Fuel injection so it runs like it should!

 

Power windows are the one thing I'd rather not live without. In the older Toyota pickups and Tacomas, I could still lean way over and unlock the passenger door or roll down the window. But the Tundra is way too wide for that. I learned how annoying it is when my first work truck was a Silverado with power nothing. If I got on the interstate ramp and only then realized the passenger window was cracked, I'd have to pull over, put it in park, scoot over to the passenger side and roll it up.

They all have their compromises though...
