All good, thanks! They are having a security meeting in the morning, and I think she’s remoting in for a while. She works at the Downtown Denver Partnership.

I’m not sure, but I think it’s fine most places here. I think she should go that route. I’m going to try to talk her into it. She is pretty good at Tai Quan Dao. But it’s dudes with knives. So many angry people.

From a cursory search, it looks like you can’t carry in city buildings or parks. I’d just avoid those places.

Pretty sure this is correct. But I'm no Denver resident so I go by state statutes. However, I do know that Jan 1 they did implement some new language into the CC laws.

Accurate. I used to skate all over that whole place as a high school kid. I haven't been there in some 15 years though.

In the year since our twins started eating solid food, they've each thrown up once. Coincidentally, both times happened to be after having eaten peanut butter, which isn't necessarily surprising, considering that they used to eat it at least 3 days a week for lunch. My wife has someone convinced herself that this must mean they're allergic to it and will no longer feed it to them.

Like FLAF said... this kind of crap is everywhere and seems to be worse in any large Metro area (do your own research to determine factors that aggravate or mitigate the rate and extremities of occurences for various areas, etc.)...

Here's a recent example up in WA (that has been alleged to be 'gang related') but essentially 2 (17) year olds have a girl set up a 13/14 year old by luring him to a park... He's then jumped by the older kids when trying to get back into the girl's car, they force him to strip, tie him to a tree, and essentially disembowel him by stabbing him repeatedly in the torso and stomach area...

He survives (barely) and both suspects have been identified and arrested. One was recently released on other felony charge earlier in the month...

Point being... there's a lot of sick people floating around there and the best defense against this kind of violence is good situational awareness. It's not everything, but it's a good starting point to avoid or mitigate trouble before it starts.

    hoo-boy

made it thru the last 7 pages.

I now surmise....every time I mention otters, the ju-ju gets all messed up.

and...can we put the fires out in California?

I was recently at the abode of my trucker buddy. he lives amongst a forest of pine trees. he showed me how flammable old, dry pine needles are. damn. that shit is like gasoline.

and I love Tuna in oil. bag or can. not that flavored shit...just Tuna.
tuna in water is just not the same.

    Tuna salad on toast. uh...heaven.

    Milk.

I always drank milk until recently.

the trifecta of training well, eating well, and winter...did not comply with my weight.

    I gained 10 pounds in 2 months.

    so, I cut out milk.

    ya know what happened?

    NOTHING.

I could deduce, if I was so inclined, that not drinking milk merely attracts Otters.

    shit...bad ju-ju incoming.

A friend from work posted on Facebook (I sometimes log on just to look at marketplace) something like, “really unfortunate situation, one of the four tanks was empty” like aww shucks sometimes it just turns out that way and we can’t expect the authorities to get it right every time :notsure:

It took everything in me not to comment.

Yeah the one tank that holds *117 MILLION gallons of water* was empty, and the other 3 hold a million each, which still sounds like a lot until you realize they drained them in 3 hours to the point that the entire system was depressurized and they couldn’t pump more into the system.

It turns out raging institutionalized incompetence has severe consequences. :annoyed:

    This.

and we are seeing the manifestation of gross incompetence.

    clearly.

I wonder how the 2nd shoe will drop?

I was in Glendale/Burbank earlier this year. Beautiful area. Luckily, not affected....yet.

lots of old homes. I reckon many were paid for (no mortgage).

This fire pissed off a LOT of old, very powerful people. they lost their homes & every possession.

this kinda shit don't iron out very well.

my guess...WE will end up paying for California's gross incompetency.

Part of the issue with California is the jungle primary system. The top 2 candidates by primary vote get to run for office in a given election. It sounds like a great idea on paper until you realize that only 1 political party is on the ballot most of the time. So you basically get the illusion of choice as far as policy is concerned, since both candidates basically have the same views and will enact the same policies.

The only way things will get better in California is for them to keep getting worse at the State level. Speaking as someone who is a native Californian and currently lives in California.
