Heck yeah these 2wd AC v8's can actually get decent MPG on long trips. My high score for the 03 is 427 miles on one tank, from Houston to San Antonio and back.
Iirc when I filled up it took like 24gal, so if could've gone further. But I wasn't going to push her any more than that, or I might be literally pushing her.

 

So happens on 2HI wet and dry, and 4HI wet.

I agree with @455h0le_dachshund. Investigate the swaybar links. Consider removing the swaybar totally to see if it continues. If you didn't use extended links, very highly likely that's your issue.

 

The openings for cawl space are near the middle of the truck so no danger of dripping into it

 

Hmmm. Yeah I installed the suspension maxx extended links. Just went fishing and it didn’t act up the whole time. Weird. Maybe it’s temperature dependent. It has only happened sub 40. When it warmed up this afternoon, it got better.

I thought it was weird how loose they tell you to leave the bolts on those links. Basically hand tight plus one or two rotations.

 

Nice! I believe you. I've never pushed it as far as I did on this trip. I was starting to sweat a little the last 50 miles. There are parts of AZ where there is no gas for long stretches. Not a good feeling I love this truck on the open road, though. I don't think I stopped smiling the whole time.

Not bad but the rust is sprayed over with a matte black paint and there’s definitely holes in the bed from rust through. Still for $5,100 it isn’t bad for cheap transportation in a stick shift 2wd truck.

 

In my experience: "pops" while turning are usually CV axle related and "clunks" while turning are usually sway bar related.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned-

Have you looked into the plastic pads that go between the leaf springs? If theyre worn out or broken, they’ll clunk or pop, and it’ll feel like it’s coming from the front end.

Mine are missing, and they are fine most of the time, but if it’s less than 45° or so, and rainy, they clunk and pop a bunch. Never in dry weather or during the summer. Only when it’s cold and wet.

 

What did the 6 speed transmission come out of? That wasn't a factory option was it?

 

05-06 4.0 V6 had a six speed manual or five speed auto. Same as the second gen Tacoma

 

That's right. I knew the engine changed but forgot about the transmission. That has to be a very rare combo now. Convert it to 4x4 and it would be awesome.

 

Wonder what's going on with this section of my neighbors roof with their insulation. Their laundry room is right below it I believe. Could be their grow operation.

 

Maybe an exhaust fan that vents into the attic? My bathroom ones do that.

 

Probably. That's not up to code today but was when this house was built.

 

Probably could with an FJ or Taco transfer case.

Got my class C license so I can legally drive the new F-550 at work. This thing is such a beast.



It’s brand new, got like 350 miles on it. 7.3L gas, 10 speed auto, 4WD. Super easy to drive. Towers over the Tundra.

 

Not big enough. You need to step up to a Ford F-750.

 

Ah that may be it too. New leafs and add a leaf, but I think I did forget to put the isolator pad on one side between the add a leaf and overload. I’ll keep an eye on it. Nothing this afternoon going to the grocery store. Could just be the new suspension stretching its legs.

 

Asked the fire department if I could cut the fallen trees to use as firewood. They said I’d be doing them a favor. Hunted all the Oak I could find around me. 2 loads about half the bed. Set on camping firewood for the year.

 

We had a big storm at the beginning of summer that knocked down a TON of trees around town. Most of the landscapers cut the big chunks in 4-5’ sections and left them……… my mom easily got half cord out of her scavenging.
I recently found her a decent price and she picked up a full cord of split seasoned stacked oak for 475
