Edit: Sorry, I just now saw this subject has been covered.

Purchased my 2024 Tundra 1794 a year ago. Now I find out that my remote start was on a trial basis and it has expired and it costs $15 a month to renew !! This is BS !!!!!

You should be able to remote start with the key FOB without the subscription.

If all else fails, read your owners manual occasionally. :)

Yep, mine just expired as well. Not going to pay for it.
Yes, the fob will still remote start, but only at the available range of the fob.
Anything beyond line of sight and no start.

No way in hell I'm paying them more money for remote start. The fob method is perfectly fine.

I was referring to the fact that you didn't know that you can remote start with the FOB. I'm pretty sure that's covered in the manual.

I stand corrected. I could have sworn I read that in the manual, but it has been over a year. I must have learned that here.

    My apologies to the OP.

Peripheral vision of the Avatar picture and comment totally led me to believe this was a @Hella Krusty response. And then ya popped up!

The remote start on Toyota vehicles is trash all the way around. I remote started my wife's GM Malibu and it makes me so jealous.

I’m still pissed we have to pay for the App but it also reminds me when I’ve forgotten to lock it. And thats a few times a month so its kind of an insurance policy. Our new Kia gives lifetime Nav and 3yrs on the remote app. which also has temp controls.

I press my lock button three times and hold on the last. It used to work but now I'm not able to get it to remote start. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

You have drive connect then you get remote connect for the same 15 bucks. Drive connect gives you the NAV updates which have always cost regardless of what vehicle you drive. I pay for it but combined it, Remote connect with Drive connect which also gives the NAV updates. You are not just paying for remote start.

Does your Tundra have to be equipped with the JBL premium audio for the key fob remote start to work? I attempted the sequence on my 23 Limited numerous times but was unable to. I do not have the JBL audio.

Nope, doesn't matter, JBL or not.
I've found the FOB 3-press and hold on 3 sequence VERY finicky. Works the first time, about half the time.

Don't know how close or far you are when you're trying, but the range on my fob is limited to maybe 50 feet line of sight.

A while back someone mentioned that if your trial ran out and you opt out of ALL connected services, you’d loose the ability to remote start. Even from the fob.

Later I think I read that was actually a software bug and Toyota was going to fix that. Does anyone recall this?

like mentioned, timing is clunky but mine works to 150’ in my yard.

I bet you also give Toyota their penance for what all services are important to you. I know I do.
