I’ve accepted the fact that all of the new stuff is way easier to make faster a while ago. Factory boosted, aluminum body trucks with 8 and 10 speed transmissions are always going to have a leg up. Of course, that’s not why we buy tundras either. Keeping up with the new stuff at factory levels while maintaining half decent reliability is about all I hope for. The next truck will be a slow HD anyway and I’ll eventually scratch the speed itch with a proper car.

There is a huge bonus, having something that can seat 7 & tow 7k+ pounds that is faster than an 80's supercar though! (driven for Dragy by most anyone but me) :p

True, although that’s also a high output grand wagoneer these days. Not that I would ever consider buying one of those. :poking:

Someone please punch me directly in the face if I ever show any interest in something like this. I even hate when people install the 'tesla' style screens in the 2.5gen. Bugs the hell out of me but to each their own...I suppose.

I don't need the Tundra to be the fastest thing, but there's three classes of vehicles and the Tundra falls in the middle in stock form. There's slow AF where you just have to accept it's slow and it's part of the character, there's your average speed OEM vehicles where you can't actually outrun anyone so if someone is being a dick you're just screwed and not able to get around them, and then there's fast stuff.

The average speed OEM stuff is just so annoying to me. My wife's GX is horrible, sure it's a lot faster than my FJ40, but it can't outrun even a Jeep Wrangler or anything else so if you're trying to pass someone you're entirely at the other vehicle's mercy what to do. And the Tundra in stock form is that way. The supercharger might not make it the fastest thing, but at least anyone that's trying to screw with the Tundra now has to be pretty quick to be bothersome and usually those vehicles aren't bothersome since they're way faster to begin with.

Plus other comforts and enjoyments that more power brings with it. Not searching gears to climb a hill, enough power to be fun and dart around and make your stomach twist, the truck just feels lighter and easier to throw around since it can actually get out of its way, etc. People that think we're weird that we're trying to make the truck fast have it all wrong, it's not making it fast, it's giving the truck a bit more freedom :D

    This.

I've been asked by a few people in town "why?" and my response is simply that my FI endeavor is about 10-20% the cost of what I'd want to buy in its place. My next vehicle will be a F450 to satisfy the early retirement plans and then we'll likely end up in something practical, hopefully with a few impractical toys in the stable. $0.00 is a great monthly payment for something that scratches all the itches.

So an RHO with a 100+whp JB4 does 4.2ish, is that with or without the 1’ rollout? Several of us are doing that (just did 4.30) on 35s with no regear. I’d imagine the regear will push it to the next level and remain very competitive to a tuned RHO. They don’t really have much on us, considering. They would be more disappointed with the results on a head to head than us after spending all that money. :p

What Sniv said is spot on (in my FJ and 4Runner youre just kinda stuck in traffic). There’s a utilitarian aspect to a fast truck as well, where I get to enjoy the speed of a vehicle while also doing chores (like picking up big stuff at home depot, going to the dump, moving things, firewood, camping with or without a slide in camper, etc). Vs. A dedicated sports car type vehicle you would either be commuting in occasionally or “sunday” driving around town type thing. I like the TRX/Raptor R but the 5.5ft bed makes it less utilitarian too. With a 5.7 Tundra you get alot of usage/fun from 40k msrp + 10k supercharger.

That's good to hear! It was a big step for me to list anything on eBay, but I figured since I browse eBay for superchargers maybe there's others and that's some passive advertising  If you order in the next hour I'll drop it off before UPS leaves along with Hulk's throttle body. Or just message me your address if you don't have your card on hand and I'll get it sent off too.

81mm on the Maggie is the sensibly spicy pulley choice for sea level IMO.

No one has run the 81mm pulley yet (though coincidentally sending out another one besides yours today). I'm not sure if a different belt from the stock one is needed for the 81mm, so keep me posted if you notice any belt slip issues and we can figure out a tighter belt.

I think the 86 belt is fine with that. Smaller delco belt is likely too tight for the 81 pulley. Pretty tight on the 76 pulley so can't imagine needing to pull it another 2.5mm on top to slip over the lip of the pulley.

It’s the most I’d be comfortable running and not holding my breath every time I went WOT, which ends up being more fun in a way. Less is more.

Not to kick a man while he’s down but I don't have to tell you how that wound up. :rofl:I of course am still at the same risk even with less boost. Maybe a hair less risk though, at least I like to think. The straw that broke the camels back sort of thing.

The other day, 2 kids in a BMW thought they were in a rocket ship. Dropped with the wheels at that god awful camber and a ricer muffler. They were in and out of traffic thinking they were fast. Finally get to a red light, I am behind them since I couldn't pull up next to them because of a car in that lane. Wait till the light changes and away they go with all their mighty 4cyl. I easy into it so I dont drag my tire, 1 wheel wonder, and just casually pass them while waving bye. They couldn't believe a truck just dragged them that bad.
While a SCed tundra isn't the fastest, it's always nice to drag on unexpecting vehicles.

Ha, fair enough. How much boost were you running when 'the event' happened? Any how many miles on the motor?

oh wait, was thinking about @e30cabrio

I'm almost 63 going on 14 & love doing that every chance I get. Shop says the 24th is my get the truck back date. @snivilous with everything else being the same do I need you to look at logs on the 5 years & 70k miles newer motor?

Also, I needed a new oil pressure sender that was 4 bucks under free shipping so got a Toyota oil filter, except the color, looks a lot like my go to Wix..

    Orange is OEM
