Each Tundra generation has one of these. Why not add one for those who dodged the 3rd gen bullet?

A lot of members on this forum moved on from the Tundra for various reasons. Payload woes, poor MPG, an accident that totaled it, you have an insatiable itch for new vehicles like @LarryDangerfield gets, or you couldn't stomach something about the 3rd Gen and had to go elsewhere.

However it came about, you're in a vehicle that isn't a Tundra but you opted to stay here because the community is great.

What rig do you have and what have you done to it today? Also, adding a poll on why you're not in a 3rd gen, to keep it relevant to the section and maybe :stirthepot: a little.

I like this idea . The only things I’ve done to mine are the running boards , the tonneau cover and the bed liner . Everything else is factory original .

In keeping with the original theme; I needed to get back into a full size for easier towing after a bad experience in my Tacoma, so I started the hunt. I don't think a tiny 6 banger with a couple whistle bits tacked on to bring it up to adequate power for the job is a good idea. Call me old school, stuck in the past, a troglodyte, whatever. There is no replacement for displacement in a gasser truck IMO. Long story short wound up in a V8 F150 that I've named Wile E. since it's already got the Coyote. :D

I've ordered new floor mats because OEM ones are always a bit lacking in most vehicles. I'll update when they show up, but pics for attention.

I've always liked the looks of F-150's(except for the 89 I owned). My first truck was a 73 F-100 inherited from an uncle. Also owned a 99 F-150 Lariat.

Glad you've found something that fits your needs. Congrats.

What do you mean "not the maker?" You dislike Toyota?

    Pics of the rig! :worthless:

Did you move up to the diesel because you tow or haul more than the 3rd gen (or other 1/2 tons) can manage?

I used to joke about the 2.7 tacoma towing like, "that'll pull anything, except a piece of ass or a trailer with more than 1 axle"

It even had the 3.5 and it was a light load. The wind was the killer and I can't have a truck that can't pull in the wind. I mean, Wyoming is always windy.

Moved on from the ‘22 Tundra because of many little annoyances, the motor issue, and because I like to get new vehicles often. I did jump out before the recall to get ahead of the potential depreciation hit that was coming with the engine issues. I mainly bought the Tundra for reliability and value. Ugh.
Went to a ‘23 GMC Sierra with the 3.0 Duramax. Enjoying this truck lots. The comfort, fit and finish, and of course the MPGs.
Have added a tonneau cover and tint.

Nice looking truck! I could never get over Ford's drop down windows by the mirror. I understand it is to lower the mirror for better visibility, but it just wasnt comfortable when I drove one. What are your thoughts on it after being in a Tundra? I found the Tundra's window sil and armrest to be the most comfortable out of any new truck.

Personally, I do not like the new design inside or out. 3rd gen’s can look amazing with armor, lift, tires, etc. but my big hangup is the interior. I think it’s fugly, and there’s no fixing that, really. Since the inside is where I spend 99% of my time with the truck, I need to like it. Couple that with the cost of entry, and the 4R just made more sense for me.

Sliders, skids, tires, ditch lights are all I’ve gotten on so far. All the money I got from losing my tundra went to buying this truck and a house at the same time unfortunately:ballchain:

2024 TRD OR 4R in Underground color.

I kick my ass for giving up my 2019 Tundra. The F150 was the only new V8 that checked the right boxes, so that's what I'm in.

I actually like the drop of the mirrors, but I also don't ever rest my arm on the sill.

Looks pretty good, but I'm not entirely sold on the Underground color. I've not seen it in person though.

How do you like the color? Does it look right in photos?

Do you have future mods you hope to add?

I just saw that color for the first time the other day in person and I quite like it. It's like cement but just a little darker.

Had a '23 1794 Hybrid. Changed the oil in it at 14k miles and found the oil full of silver flakes and a black gritty substance. Traded it off in July of '24 for a Chevrolet 1500 High Country with the 3.0 Duramax.

    What's Been Done:
    1. Bedrug
    2. Diamondback HD
    3. Window Tint (Llumar)
    4. Ebay carbon fiber steering wheel
--Note: I did this b/c I had a 2015 Ram 2500 with wood steering wheel. I really liked it b/c it was easier to keep clean and was thicker than the stock GM steering wheel.
    5. All new speakers
--Note: GM Bose speakers are terrible in these latest trucks. 200 bucks fixed the issues
    6. Auto Stop Start Eliminator

Still rocking my loyal 2007 Tundra, dents, rust, peeling clear coat and all.

Added a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser because at $70K there was a lot of other stuff I would rather drive than a decently equipped yet still inadequate 3rd Gen Tundra.

    IMG_0539.jpg

I also have a set of 18” wheels for it that winter tires go on hopefully tomorrow.

    Lots of stuff!
The Maker - Toyota or at least Toyota Canada is not a company I can deal with anymore!
The 1,390 lbs of Tundra payload was workable but now this is not an issue, and yes towing/hauling is frequent.
