I agree with most of the mentioned notes, but one simple thing I don't see and miss is the my old double sun visor. Could it have cost that much to keep it there?

Toyota is funny - I once wrote them about an idea (for Free) for improving rear seat occupant detection (like 15 yrs ago) - their response was We do not accept suggestions for our products from outside our company.

What a loss to have that philosophy.

I did some research into the micro amp they offer, and it only affects the front speakers, which I didnt expect much from anyways. There is no way that thing is adding any bump to my sub. My Silverado had a Bose system, and I am impartial to the brand, but before I added additional stereo equipment it still out did the JBL by a long shot.

Makes logical sense though from a business perspective. Takes away the whole “intellectual property” scenario, which could end up in a legal battle costing more than the idea was ever worth to implement.

My biggest 1st world peeves are:

    1. Auto stop/start cannot be permanently shut off
    2. Lane Tracing Assist pin-balls like a drunk driver regardless of sensitivity level. And it requires a hand on the wheel, so it's kinda pointless.
    3. Adaptive cruise brakes much too aggressively resulting in over-heated brake shudder in certain situations.
    4. Hands-free text message read back does not automatically mute the radio or other audio sources.

If you are turning up the txt volume every time, you can up the default volume for it in the head unit settings.

It doesn't come in 24k gold.

I know Toyota spends millions on designing a product for a MASS AUDIENCE but how stupid are they not offering a 24k paint!?

Everyone I would buy one if it came in 24k gold paint.

You can access the wiring harnesses you need through the tray opening behind the screen? No need to tear the dash open?

I have the default volume set to maximum, but I still have to lower the radio, or music, volume manually to hear the text read out.

Exactly. Most of what they wanking on about is fixable in the setting of the device providing the music. They just dont know, or prefer to complain, to figure it out

Checked mine, is greyed out. Regardless of what setting is where and for what, that system is not cranking out 1200w. The sub is a complete shit show, useless for that space really. You could remove and not even realize.

    Correct

Here is an install video. I didn't take the screen out like he does in the video. I just removed the top panel thingy detent whatever you call it that has the cigarette socket in it. I stuck my head up there looked down and unplugged the harnesses. Then plugged them in the back of the amp. Then plugged the amp plugs back in by feel at the bottom of the screen/stereo. Then slide the amp in the hole towards the firewall with provided velcro tape securing it. Snap the thingy with the cigarette socket in it cover back in place. Good to go.

Try the built in FM radio, Youtube Music, Sirius. All of those were not loud enough. I am using Android Auto over bluetooth/wifi. I also am familiar with sound levels, settings in phones/apps. My JBL would max out at 65 or 64 on the volume level. Can't remember which because I don't get near that volume number anymore. Volume level 45 is now as loud or louder (and better sounding) than the unit with amp was at 65. They have the gain set at 50% from the factory and I preferred to back off of that a little bit.

It is a 4 channel amp. I have been looking for a wiring diagram for it. I know it mostly works the front speakers, but it has some equalization built into it. It intercepts the inputs and amplifies with sound that is much richer. The higher you turn the gain, the more bass level you get along with the higher boost in volume. At the higher gains, the bass is too much. I said in the post above this I actually backed off the gain and I did it because of the bass level. The volumes at that level were great. I don't know if that equalization is inserted into the pass through channels but the sub seems to be getting more movement and sound. But I can tell you one thing, I really didn't think I had a sub after I initially got the truck. I know it is there now.

I know I could bump up the gain and use an equalizer to compensate but I'm too old for that shit. I don't have time to play with equalizers. I used to do all the stereo crap in college and spent several years in an extended cab S-10 with two 15" subs in it. Just give quality me sound that can get loud without having me having to think much. That's all I ask.

As said before, I commonly maxed out the volume at 65 before the amp and 40-45 now is at about the same volume as 65 was.

Maybe you're just going deaf. All I use is Sirius and have zero issue. FM radio is for the ages....and that is coming from someone whose family owned 26 stations and I personally owned 1, + 4 Cable TV companies. . Broadcast FM + Cable TV is dying a rapid death.

probably a lawyer thing with liability, i can understand when i see some of these auto up or closing features fail and crunch a finger/hand or what not

this seems to be tied to tss 3.0 and higher on toyota brand only. i think the new tacoma this no longer applies and the new 4R will have this also. could be also tied to the credit card and or digital key aspect of newer toyota's

this is i think a fed rule now ever since that actor from star trek reboot got rolled over by his car and died

So when does their full size truck get TSS 3.0? kind of silly to ship one of your only vehicle in class with 2.5 and no dates or notes about upgrades to 3.0
