I'm pretty sure that the extang solid fold does not relocate the factory rails. I believe the front mount uses the rail to secure it. FYI.

Did this one have silver tabs that off set the factory rails so you can use the cleats? I just bought one and it doesn’t seem like you can keep the cleats…. My old bakflip on my 22 let you keep the cleats since it had those tabs…

I assume you're talking about these?

So when I bought mine they came with the drop down brackets to relocate and retain the rails, that was one of the things that attracted me to the MX4.

My understanding is that they've changed the design and this is no longer the case. The new ones apparently mount to the bedrails.

I dunno' why they'd go and change a good thing, but there you go.

They still sell the brackets as a kit but I don't know if you can use them with a new tonneau if they do indeed incorporate the bed rails as a part of the mounting system.

Glad yours is working out. Parts keep falling off mine. Not worth more than $350 IMO.

I got nervous after I got mine, 'cuz I heard some others saying their quality had gone to shit, but so far so good. I'm about 18 months in with mine.

Their QC department must be phoning it in, or they have some real bad Monday builds going out the door. Quality seems to be either very good, or not so much. That's a shame

Not quite but the old kit did drop the rails like you have pictured. Apparently they redesigned the kit a month or so ago and installs even easier but just can’t use the cleats. Disappointing.

Does your MX4 block the view of the bed camera down into the bed when folded “open” completely?

PNW resident here = lots of rain. I highly suggest you use bigger drain tubes. Also, it may leak a bit at the joints, but I think it's fixable if you mark the spots during a heavy rain and use some sort of flexible seal...anyone been down that road?

Yes it does block most of the bed view. Can see tailgate and a bit in front of it. Any cargo that sits above the bed rails can be seen as well.

My only disappointment with the MX4 is it is far from water tight. A hard rain will leak water around the entire perimeter of the bed. Going thru an automatic car wash will basically drench the bed.

I don't think this is unique to the MX4 however. I doubt any of the hard fold up covers are completely water tight.

Otherwise, the MX4 has been a solid trouble-free cover.

Thanks! I had asked somewhere else about this before I bought mine, but I think there may have been some confusion as to which camera I was talking about. Kind of bummed that I can't keep an eye on the stuff in the bed when the cover is open, but I suppose in practice anything I need to open the tonneau for will be above bedside height anyway.

My truck didn’t come with the digital rear view mirror. (was so disappointed when it arrived and it was missing) I’m curious with its wider angle camera if it might give a better view?? ( with the bed cover up)

I’ll try mine out tomorrow and report back. Just looking at the camera placement and angle from the outside, I think the rear view will work. Bed view is blocked because it’s pointed down.

None of them are watertight, but it shouldn't leak THAT much.

Hard rain or car wash mine just gets a tiny bit of water in... mostly the back corners, and I think that's due more to the big gap between bedside/tailgate than it is the actual tonneau leaking.

4-6" inside the tailgate and it's dry, sides, wheel wells dry, sometimes a TINY bit damp in front corners.

I might be tempted to un/re install if it were leaking all the way around, maybe new weatherstripping.

I swear by a rubber bed mat. Any water that drips in at the corners goes underneath your load and out.

Fair enough. I may have exaggerated a bit in that post. And I do agree, much of the leaking I get when going thru an automatic carwash is thru the ridiculous gaps at the sides of the tailgate. And I have installed addition weatherstripping in those areas, but it only helped slightly. My MX4 cover is installed perfectly.

Dust in the bed is another annoying problem in my area. And, again, I think that's mostly due to the tailgate gaps.

I know it's a pickup truck, but I've never understood why they can't do a better job of sealing up the tailgate. It's been a problem with every pickup I've owned, including 3 Tundras.
