I’m saying there is no replacement for displacement. Cheating geometry doesn’t yield free torque.

    Hi Not Ryan,

You seem convinced that Toyota's explanation of "manufacturing debris" is the true cause of the bearing failures. Are you equally convinced they solved that problem when they claimed to have?

If so, how do you explain the bearing failures to engines that fall outside of the recall timeframe and beyond the period in which Toyota claims to have fixed the manufacturing process problem?

What’s crazy is I see countless third gen tundras and sequoias every time I drive and I have yet to see one broken down on the side of the road. With how people are making this out to be surely I would have seen one broke down by now.

The market speaks- Ford up 2% on a big number. Sierra good at 9%. Tundra at 27.4%
IMO, if they clean up some stuff with the truck there's a lot of growth head room on the next refresh. The luddites will still be pissing and moaning about how they won't buy one.
I drove a Tacoma while my Tundra was in for service. I thought it was good looking but a chintzy piece of crap on the inside. Not surprised it's down. I wouldn't touch one over the mid sized Denali.

We continue to have the town criers scouting Reddit, Facebook and other social media to tell the world and post the failed trucks on Tundras.com. Understanding it doesn't represent the complete universe, I think the last failed one posted was November 8th.

Mine was in the shop a couple of weeks ago and they had zero dead and waiting for engines. Nobody knows for sure but it's got to be a low %.

It's all the pre Gen3 owners coming to the reality they are being left in the past and the V8 is outdated, inefficient and never coming back to any version of any next generation Tundra. They should move on to Tesla and the Cyber Truck - styless, ugly and over-priced.

IMO, whoever gets a complete factory-built engine should be grateful. Doesn't matter how long it takes and a short 12/12 warranty, a factory-built engine is a great thing. Pretty much plug and play. Again, IMO.

Happy New Year and donate to charity often.

I agree with you, but people want more warranty, want their trucks detailed & filled with fuel & whatever else. I think Toyota is doing the right thing by taking care of people.
No, it shouldn't have happened, but it did, & Toyota is taking responsibility & fixing them, wether they are actually bad or not. Yes 100k engines is alot, but how many of those are actually bad? Toyota is doing more than any other Mfg. Would. IMO.

I'm rooting for the Gen 3 and hope all the issues are ironed out and it becomes the truck everyone hoped it would. I hope it sells at even greater volumes and that prices on Gen 2.5's start to fall. I need prices to fall another $5k-$7k on the range of Tundra's I'm looking at before I am willing to drop the money on one. As a buyer I like to put 50% down and pay off the note in 12-18 months.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/toyota-faces-class-action-lawsuit-095526173.html

The class action lawsuit claims that the recall falls short. Big law firms with experience in class action lawsuits don't take cases like this one without sufficient evidence to make it "winnable". Among other things, the lawsuit claims that the recall should be expanded beyond the current batch of 100k Tundras, and that Toyota knowingly sold unsafe vehicles. Class action lawsuits are usually decided against large, rich corporations once they get to a jury trial, so Toyota's best hope is to have the case dismissed by a judge before it reaches jury trial phase.

And yet, there is proven evidence from a brand new short block assembly that there is debris in the block from manufacturing.
Poor machining and cleaning of the block.

Given that there was a large number of failures in the Sequoia that were manufactured in May 2024, yes, Toyota knowingly sold a defective product. It has been said that they were still having "contamination issues" as late as Early November 2024.
